Had interview today for my i485 and everything went well but said he could not make a decision and gave me a paper saying case is held for further review. He did not take my ead or stamp my passport or i94. pls is everything OK? has anyone had this before? pls tell me how it went. Thanks

December 18, 2023:  Filed I-90 to renew Green Card

December 21, 2023:  Production of new Green Card ordered - will be seeing USCIS again every 10 years for renewal

Don't despair it happens a lot. Not everyone is approved at the spot. Many officers normally review cases later on with supervisors before final approval which could be days later a week or several weeks. Just keep fingers crossed for updates. The worse that could happen is be called again for another interview especially if there were mismatches or inconsistencies in your responses. If the interview went well don't sweat it chances are they're gonna approve you after their review as in many cases. Just do an info pass though if it sits idle past 120 days! By the way your F-1 out of status isn't a problem I also adjusted from an F-1 status violation for almost 10 years without a hitch and instantly approved.

8/14/2014: Mailed AOS package: I-130, I-485, I-765.

8/18/2014: Accepted in Chicago. Transferred to Nebraska Service Center.

8/21/2014: Received NOA 1. I-130, I-485, I-765 in mail.

8/25/2014: Received biometrics in mail. Scheduled for 9/8/2014

9/24/2014: EAD approved. 36 Days!

10/01/2014: EAD mailed.

10/03/2014: Received EAD card.

10/14/2014: I-485 moved to testing and interview.

1/28/2015: Interview scheduled for 3/4/2015.

1/31/2015: Received interview notice.

3/4/2015: Interview completed and APPROVED!

3/5/2015: Welcome notice mailed and I-130 Approved.

3/10/2015: Welcome notice and I-130 approval notice received.

3/12/2015: Green card mailed.

3/14/2015: Green card delivered.

Removal of Conditions: 

12/14/2016: Mailed I-751.

12/19/2016: NOA issued.

01/26/2017: Biometrics.

05/03/2018: I-751 transfered to NBC.

02/27/2019: Joint I-751/N-400 Interview.

05/14/2019: I-751 APPROVED.

Naturalization:

12/02/2017: Mailed N 400 to Phoenix, AZ Lockbox. (I-751 still pending)

12/05/2017: Package delivered in Phoenix, AZ. Transferred to Harrisonburg Processing Center.

12/07/2017: Notice of action issued. (IOE)

12/26/2017: Biometrics.

01/23/2019: Interview Scheduled for 2/27/2019.

02/27/2019: Joint I-751/N-400 interview. N-400 recommended for approval.

05/16/2019: N-400 APPROVED! Placed in line for oath ceremony.

05/17/2019: Oath ceremony notice mailed.

06/12/2019: Swearing in Ceremony! Finally a U.S. citizen!

Back in my days when I was adjusting status from F1 to Green Card (through marriage), I was almost to finish school and got married with a USC. I had two interviews. The first one was not a successful one with the first lawyer and so I changed another one. The second one was a successful one and was granted a Green card on the spot. The second interview was a more intensive one. They asked about the house, kids and more specific questions. Just speak the truth. Everything will be fine. Also both of you has to speak about the same content. My interviews were not Stroke but one of the stroke I/O came by and start to ask and kinda threaten if so and so will to call him/her, will she say yes???! I said sure call her and she will say Yes. Anyway, I am a Citizen now and got divorced when I was a LPR. Did another 2 interviews for my N-400 to get my citizenship. it was a tough road for me. I am going to apply my current wife for a status adjustment this May. Oh boy, I hope everything will go smoothly after so much experiences going in and out of the interview room! finger crossed XX
