Not sure, but I think it depends on the consulate. I think I remember reading that some consulates won't let the fiancé(e) attend with their SO. Hopefully someone going through the consulate you are will pop on and answer your question. We're going through Montréal and I am allowed to be with my fiancé. Best of luck to you both :)

HI,

Just wanted to know if I need to be with my fiancee for the interview.

If I'm not required to be there for the interview, does anyone know if it makes a difference if I go or If I'm even able to go ?

Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, J

I'd do a search on this site for members that went through Bogota. Every embassy seems to have it's own little quirks. In my case, I am going to the interview and I will most likely be questioned as well. I have heard from other members that it is almost an unwritten rule in Peru. Personally, I also think it adds a lot of credibility to the relationship, which is the primary concern of the embassy.

The best info you get will be from people who have gone through the process in that embassy.

As it pertains to Bogota the answer is YES and a big YES at that. Other VJ members have gone in the past and I'm am going on April 4th with my fiance. It does help in my opinion but many petitioners decide not go and do fine. So it's not mandatory.

Russia = NO! Sponsors are not allowed to enter the embassy during the interview process.

It would be kind of nice to be there though. I know a lot of the guys go over for "moral support" during the interview.

It isnt required for you to be there. Some consulates will let you, others will not. Sometimes being there is helpful and other times it is not. It would be a good idea to talk to other people who went to the same consulate.
