Hi

I have my interview tomorrow and believe I have everything I need. However, I was scanning the internet and noticed someone had put something about not having their paid traffic ticket with them. I had no idea we had to include a minor thing like a speeding ticket?? I had one a few years back which I paid. Now please don't scare me, my interview is tomorrow morning so realistically I can't do anything in terms of getting proof of this, but should I bring this up? Is it even that big of a deal? Part of me is thinking they won't even notice and if they do, I could put it down to forgetting....

Did you disclose that you got a ticket in your N400 form? If you did, and the ticket cost less than $500. You'll be fine without the payment receipt or court disposition for that ticket. If the ticket fine was $500 or more, you're required to disclose that on your N400 form, and take a payment receipt and/or court disposition for that ticket. Good luck tomorrow.

You need to disclose it when they ask when going over your n400 form, but don't volunteer it. They will correct it there and then. Remember you are under oath so be careful. There is a guy who posted couple days ago he insisted NO answer for that question and now his n400 is under review. Good luck.

The application asks you if you were ever cited. You were cited when you received a traffic citation. You know that you were cited. You answered that you were not cited.

The interview gives you an opportunity to correct this; you will not get into any sort of trouble for not listing it on the application as long as you correct it during the interview. If you don't correct it, it may never come up, then again it might; but you will have knowingly provided false information. Ever, if you do bring it up you should be prepared that your interviewer MIGHT ask you to send in proof that you've paid the ticket before you are approved.

Application is full of ridiculous questions, but we still have to answer them. For example asking people born in the 70s and 80s if they ever served the Nazi government is a lot more ridiculous than asking people if they got traffic tickets.

I wouldn't say anything. The question is anyway rediculous, who the #### would remember a stupid ticket from years ago?

Before you come for the interview they know almost everything they need to know about you - including the speeding tickets because they have access to your driving history. And they want to see if the answers you provided on N400 are truthful. It's better no to mess with the government...

I disagree with you on this one. If he doesn't volunteer he may (or may - not depending on the officer's mood) get in trouble since the officer asks you to swear that the information he provided on N400 is correct. And if he had a citation that he didn't disclose on the N400 he has to bring it up verbally during the interview when the officer will go through his application.

Thanks for your rep!y. It was $70, and I didn't disclose it. Should I bring this up anyway in the interview or will it mess everything up seeing as I didn't disclose it in my application?

yes, it will benefit you if you say you had a ticket you didn't disclose on the N400. Don't show like you have a tendency to hide something.

It isn't likely he will get in any trouble. Some officers tell people they shouldn't have put it down in the first place when they put minor traffic violations. I wouldn't worry about it OP, you'll be fine.

Not this again... this topic will never give you one answer.

At my interview (November) I was told that I shouldn't have listed my tickets once the IO reviwed my documentation. but i still advise you to bring the documentation. While they are going through hand them the paperwork showing you paid it and it is settled. Explain you did not think it was a citation (you misunderstood) but while doing research for the interview you see where you should had listed it. Better safe than sorry. My sister ended up being delayed for 6 months over traffic tickets cause her IO was new.
