I recently booked tickets for my wife and I to travel from Washington DC to Rome vis Air Canada next month. I chose Air Canada because they had the cheapest fare for when we're going. I've flown Air Canada to Toronto a number of times with no problems. I'm curious how the service on Air Canada's international flights is. I'm also wondering how long it takes to make a connection through Toronto since you have to clear Canadian Customs before going to the international terminal.

Toronto Airport clears you pretty quick. Usually 10 - 20 minutes 1/2 hour if it is tipped. As for Air Canada, picture your trip to Toronto.. then make it longer. Service depends more on equipment. I can remember flying to Gander, and switching to an L1011.. Those were the days. Fresh brewed coffe, free movies.. Now you get squat.

I know for domestic travel Air Canada gives you just a smal cup of soft drink, coffor or tea, or water and maybe a tiny bag of pretzels. If you want a blanket/pillow, yiu pay $2 for it. I think they give ya a bit better service on the international flights. http://www.aircanada.com/en/travelinfo/

Cheers

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

I have flown Air Canada extensively, both domestic and international. I'd have to say that they have the surliest, nastiest, ugliest flight attendants of any airline, with the worst service, worst movies, and terrible food.

On the other end of the scale is KLM, which I love flying. British Airways, too.

Enjoy your flight. :)
