I am going to paste what I got from the DOS, so you have an idea. don't pay too much attention to the dates. I took my while to send in the supporting documents, and now they're taking their while with me.

Recommendation Sent July 28, 2015

Form DS-2019 Received June 23, 2015

Form I-612 Received June 23, 2015

Form I-613 Received June 23, 2015

Fee Received August 13, 2014

Form DS-3035 Received August 13, 2014

Statement Of Reason Received August 13, 2014

This is what it should look like. Mine was stuck in the last three items for a while, finally sent in all the supporting documents on March 25 (which is what you are asking, correct?). then, on June 23rd, USCIS requested an advisory opinion. Afterwards, they sent in the favorable recommendation that I should have received a couple of weeks ago.

Jert, I wonder if the DoS updated the receipt of i-612/613 on time on their website in your case? If not, when it show up. I received updated from the USCIS on the requesting advisory opinion for my form i-612 but no updates on DoS on the receipt of the 612/613 forms. Thank you

Hello People,

I am a Fulbright Scholar graduating in May 2016. I am going to marry a US citizen. What should I do to deal with two year residency condition ?

Should I apply for visa status change or apply for waiver ? I can apply for hardship to US citizen waiver or I may apply for Persecution waiver ? What would you guys recommend and how long any of this may take ?

First thing is, you need to talk to an experienced immigration lawyer who has extensive experience in J1 waivers. Fullbright scholars as far as I know are some of the most difficult J1 waivers to get approved.

I suggest that you try to get a different visa if you qualify for one (non immigrant visa). One of the possible options would be an O1 visa. Applying for a J1 waiver does not give you any immigration benefits, and when your visa status expires, you need to leave the country before the 30 day grace period is over, even if you marry a US citizen. J1 waivers timelines are very unpredictable and can take as little as two months upto and even sometimes longer than a year.

All, I applied for a hardship waiver and recently DOS issued a favorable recommendation! Does anyone know what the next step is? I am actively looking for a job now, does anyone know if I have to leave the US for a new visa stamp to be able to work with the employer that sponsored my visa? can someone kindly draft their experience/steps they have gone through after approval?

Their website sometimes does not update correctly. If it takes longer I would try to contact them, not that I know how. However the good news is, the biggest obstacle is usually the USCIS and once it forwards I-613 to DOS, it is just a matter of time getting approved. Exceptions maybe things like Fulbright scholars.

What about fulbright scholars? The chance is pretty slim?

specific question,

DOS website is not yet showing for me that they have received i-612 / i-613, although received all other docs.

Do you know where exactly am I at in this process right now?

Noticed that next to “hardship” fold a new fold appeared “state” 

what does that mean?
