expedite frustrations *vent*

My husband arrived on a K-1 Visa in December. We married in February. We sent his AOS paperwork in March. I've been struggling with health issues for a while now and finally in mid March I took a full medical leave from work.

As soon as I knew I was gonna be out of work for a while, I called to request expedition of his EAD. That was on March 17. I waited on the mailing of forms that we would have to fill out. Almost two weeks later we got a letter saying that the request to expedite was put into suspension until he completed his biometrics, which was scheduled for April 6.

We went to his biometrics appointment on April 6 and when we got home after the appointment, I called to request another expedite.

So today, the 14 of April, after still not receiving paperwork in the mail, I look up his case online and it says, once again, that his request to expedite has been placed in suspension. I'm assuming I made the 2nd call too soon after biometrics and perhaps they didn't have his information in the system yet, idk. It just all seems like a waste of time and added stress that I don't need during this illness.

I guess I'm just gonna let the expedite go, give up, and let the process run its natural course. It shouldn't be too much longer now anyway..... right?

from what I understand it usually takes 3 months to get an EAD. You already have waited 1.5 months, another 1.5 shouldn't hurt. Does your husband have a job lined up already?

No. He went to the local state career center and they refused to let him register. He wouldn't let me go in and straighten that out.

Well the letter came in the mail today and I was wrong. They asked him to fax in evidence to support the request to expedite his EAD. We immediately drove to the bank and faxed my medical leave papers as well as medical assessments from doctors and hospitals. I hand wrote a cover letter to explain that I was temporarily out of work due to illness and my husband needs to work so bills can be paid. I wrote it in "his words" and he signed it. I hope it works...
