Hi folks,

I filed my I-130 application at the California Service Center (as I live in California) and then duly sent the I-129F to the Chicago office.

I just received an email from CRIS that they forwarded my I-129F petition to the Vermont Service Center.

Browsing through the forums (like http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=49657), it seems that its okay for the I-129F petition to go to Vermont, but I also got the impression that it should have been sent to where the I-130 is.

Anyone have any opinions about whether or not I should be worried about the two applications being in different places?

If I should be worried, any suggestions as to what I should do?

Thanks so much,

I read that the Chicago facility is nothing but a "lock box"?????

And that Missouri processes the payment.

And that it then gets forwarded to one of two facilities (so Vermont must be one of them?).

You're right about that, Missouri did cash the check and then send it to Vermont.

But according to http://www.uscis.gov/files/pressrelease/PN_i-129f.pdf:

Beginning October 23, 2006, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) National Benefits Center (NBC) began transferring Form I-129F, Petition for Alien Fiancé(e), (petitions for K-3-spouses of U.S. citizens only), to the California Service Center (CSC) and the Vermont Service Center (VSC), depending on the location of the related Form I-130, Petition for Alien Relative. This transfer is being implemented in preparation for Phase 3 of the USCIS initiative to use centralized filing and bi-specialized adjudication. Through this Bi-Specialization effort, USCIS continues to align similar workloads between two “sister” service centers, CSC and VSC, to better manage cases and improve customer service.

So, I'm wondering if the "depending on" should mean that my application _should_ have been sent to CSC but wasn't.

Thanks,

This seems to have happened to us, too. Nebraska forwarded our I-130 to CSC, but the Chicago lock box/MSC appeares to have have transferred our I-129f to Vermong.

An update on my case: The Vermont folks forwarded the application to California, after a month-and-a-half.

Punchline for those who come across this post:

"It seems that the I-130 and I-129F should end up in the same location. If your I-130 is at CSC and the I-129F is at VSC, then chances are that it will be sent to the CSC after a while"

Hopefully, this month-and-a-half isn't a waste and the application will be considered in order at CSC based on the "real" date, not the date they got it from VSC.
