Petitioner and joint sponsor, who is more important for earning matter?

Hello!

I have a question regarding my case.

I have a joint sponsor since my husband works for less than a year. He didn't file taxes last year and this year is his first time filing taxes since 2010.

For the interview it is written to bring the most recent tax return, which I have for both my husband and joint sponsor.

But my husband is concerned because is taxes shows very little earning since working for less than a year. My joint sponsor shows good earning..

Now my question is, who's earning are they gonna look at for final decision?

Is joint sponsor earning more important? My husband is currently working and meets the poverty guidelines.

If your husband currently meets the poverty guidelines that is usually enough, the joint sponsor is like icing on that cake.

Did you provide proof of your husband's current income?

Yes I did, I sent paystubs and letter of employment.

My case has been approved by NVC, hopefully it will be the same at the interview!

My case has been approved by NVC, hopefully it will be the same at the interview!

All the NVC does is check for completeness, they did not "approve" the case. Whether or not an Affidavit of Support is accepted or rejected is the sole purview of a CO at an Embassy or Consulate.

Only if the petitioner doesn't meet the requirements. That's the purpose of a joint sponsor.

Thank you for your help. My husband does meet the poverty guidelines but we put a joint sponsor because he works for less than a year. I brought my joint sponsor new tax returns and more pay stubs from my husband.

Sometimes the time period worked doesn't matter, and sometimes it does. It's good to have a joint sponsor because you just don't know and it was forward thinking of you two. I hope your interview goes well.
