Hello VJ's!

Well now I found out that there might be a sight delay with her visa because the interviewing consular wanted to check a hotel receipt I submitted for evidence when I visited her with in the past two years. They wanted me to send them an explanation of the girl name on the receipt. So I sent the US Embassy an email, FAX and also had the Marco Polo Hotel fax them the explanation.

The hotel (Marco Polo Hotel in Davao City) printed the name of the girl who took my reservation right underneath my name. Looks like this:

Eddie blah blah

Name of Girl who took my reservation

My address

I can see that this would look like this girl is with me by the way they printed out the hotel receipt. But that's how they printed out the hotel receipt!

Have you heard of any cases where they had to investigate a name on a hotel receipt?

And do you have any idea how long the US Consulate will take to investigate this?

Thanks,

Eddie

I haven't heard that before. It's very common in the Philippines for a person's name, such as a cashier, to appear on a receipt. I'd have to look at my receipts from Apo View, Mandaya and Waterfront to see if similar to Marco Polo. Still you would think they've seen that before. I hope this doesn't cause you much delay.

HI Roy and Yaz,

I didn't notice that the person's name was included in the receipt underneath my name! But I can see how that would confuse or raise an eyebrow when the consular view the receipt.

Please let me know if this is the case with your receipts from Apo View, Mandaya and Waterfront.

BTW, great pictures. I sure miss Davao right now!

Thanks,

Eddie

That is a terrible turn of events to have to experience. I pray that everything gets resolved quickly and favorably for you. In the meantime, be encouraged that there is a simple explanation for the receipt. At least your case isn't being held up by something complex that would require a lot of extra time or money to resolve.

Hi Eddie,

on my receipts it has a person's name, but in front of the name it has cashier or front desk. I can see where the confusion comes from on your Marco Polo receipt. hopefully what you faxed and emailed the Embassy can clear it up. I miss Davao also. Next time I'm going to Davao will be as a family. hope your not caused too much delay.
