Kid says she's upset that she cannot visit for longer and has thought about moving down here.

The only seafood she eats is fish sticks. I always make sure to buy the fillet ones not the minced ones and used to buy haddock but they don't sell it here.

What kind of snake, huh D ma'am?

Mrs. T-B. let the cat get out as she was leaving and as we were leaving, grrrr man.

And there's a skunk in the 'hood, stink stank stunk man.

Not sure, we didn't see it happen just found a lump on him and he wasn't acting normal.

Once he got shaved the spot was terrible, all bruised and gross. They said a lot of puss came out. Poor guy I hope he doesn't get out anymore.

Hope the cat doesn't come back stinky!

I'm glad she told me she's upset about it. She told me why she's having trouble with friends at school and doesn't feel comfortable having friends over at home. I don't know why she doesn't but I just wanted to discuss with her why not invite friends over to play. I think she's a bit grown up for her age sometimes, a thing with being an only child maybe, and doesn't like to run around being silly. Maybe because I haven't done that enough with her? I don't know. She likes crafts, reading, drawing and playing video games. She said her friends just want to chase each other around and she'd rather not. She also said her dad hasn't said anything to her about Saturday art classes. I know she can tell a lie, so I don't know who to believe there. Guess we'll see when she's here.

Yeah if she is more mature then her friends it does make it harder. Meeting older kids can help but then can also back fire because you don't want her to grow up even faster.

12 year olds have play dates in Canada and chase each other around?

I got to admit that my early adolescence was a bit different growing up in New York. :innocent:

Kids in grade 6 aren't supposed to chase each other? Isn't that when boys start chasing girls and girls chase boys around a school yard, if only to bug them? They're too immature at that age to really "date" or show each other affection and relationships last for a day at a time. She's not interested in that kind of stuff so she doesn't do it. She still would sit on swings if they had that available, but it's middle school so it's not. I'm sure it's to the point where she could start playing basketball or something else but likely doesn't have friends who would do that.

I played when I was 12. Board games, card games, with my pets, and video games. I would just go for a walk outside and take in nature but she's not as into nature as I was either. She likes fashion so while she has barbies, they're more of a prop for clothes than to play with like when she was young. She can design her own doll clothes and sew them too. She likes drama which really, it just make believe isn't it? Pretending to be someone else and acting is just a "mature" way of playing pretend or dress up like you did as a child. It's still play, which is why we call it a play I bet.

I'm pretty darn happy I've never lost that inner child. I feel sorry for those that have. Must suck.

It's not a bad thing not to have a huge number of friends either. I didn't hang out with a lot of kids until I was in 4H either, so I wish she could be apart of a club or something that continuous. She wanted to join track, but they're ending soon (it's only during the school year) so I hope that her father is more proactive about it than he was about her archery (which she loved.)
