well, for my kid, she's old enough to make up her own mind now. (And she doesn't want to)

I'm thinking of having the doctor do Little Egg Roll.....

I've always thought it best to wait until girls stop growing to do it so they are properly centered, but again that is a cultural/family thing. I had mine done around 9 or 10 when I stopped growing with a gun, but they got infected. I had them re-pierced as an adult when I was having some other body piercing done.

I suppose it is probably acceptable in Asian culture? Last thing as a young mother I needed to do was that in WASPy Connecticut - it would have been a flashing neon sign of sorts.

<shrugs>

I see a lotta toddlers with their ears pierced.

And a 5 year old boy in the kiddo's class. Personally, I'm more traditional. Let the boy grow.

Well, you do live in Brooklyn. The girls who had their ears pierced when I was little all had parents from the Bronx.

Speaking of things done to babies without their consent, my husband does a complete 180 last week and forbids me to get our son circumcised and claims it is an act of barbarism and mutilation. A few months ago it was my choice because it didn't really matter. Ummm, ok? Geez, man, what if I had decided to do it? :ranting:

Hey did you guys get your daughters' ears pierced?

The kiddo is not.

Yes much better as a baby. I did both girls at 3 months. At that age they can't play with them to get them infected, so they tend to heal so much better.

I think there's a few good health effects to circumcision (done at the hospital, not by a rabbi).

There is valid points on both sides. I recently changed my mind on the subject, so the Dane is lucky I agree with him.

I really want to go to the fabric store today, but I don't think I have the energy to drive there and back. :crying:

I'm thinking of applying as a Library clerk so I'm updating my resume. However, I can't think of a work reference. I could ask my current boss but I don't want anyone to think I'm unhappy at my job (there is a huge amount of people quitting at the moment) but I have always wanted to work at a library. I love books!!! I'm good with people. Voila! Plus it pays more than my current job. Maybe my last boss? A co worker? hrm....

my dad did not allow us to pierce our ears as he thought it was purely for vanity (well...i guess it is) and fed us some story about how piercing your ears could make you go blind. when i was 16, my mom finally gave in and asked my sister to take me. that's when we discovered i was allergic to gold lol. had to let the infection run its course then got my ears re-pierced a year later.

Same here :)

And I re-pierced them myself :P

ouch! that reminds me of the scene in the parent trap where one of the twins gets her ears pierced with an ice cube, a needle and an apple slice. eek.

Flying to Seattle on 6 May 2014!
