Hello.

I just wondering if anyone could tell me which mobile companies here in the USA offer international text messaging? I know so far that T-mobile and Cingular does. But unfortunately I have Sprint (and under contract for another few months) so...I am trying to figure out which is the better deal ....after my contract is up? I would also be willing to do a prepaid on any service (until my Sprint contract is up) if I can get the international txting.

Also if anyone here has Sprint, and knows if they even offer this. I tired to call a few times today .... but I am at work, and after being on hold for over 30 minutes I said 'foget it' I think people here on Vj would be more helpful.

Thank you.

up until around Nov, I could txt Dave for free on Sprint. Well, I had a text plan for like 8 bucks, and there was no difference between him or txting locally.

NOW however, they've removed that, and it's like .15 a text.

Cingular is 20 cents per txt message, and a LOT of the time, they don't make it through to France. It seems France goes on and off their plan on a whim. LOVE that.

I do NOT recommend Cingular!

I've used international texting with Verizon, but there have been a few times when they seem to get lost.

I use Verizon and it's been very reliable. They don't offer any specific plan feature, but I think it's about 10 cents per message sent and 5 cents for each one received (internation only). Domestic text messages are sold as a plan (250 for $5 per month).

I have T-Mobile and it's 0.15 per text. Even tho I have their unlimited text plan, it only works locally and int'l texts are charged (outgoing & incomming)

It's very reliable, I have never got a text lost to NL. (*knocks on wood*) ;)

I have T-Mobile too . . . same experience although I think msgs get lost going to Egypt . . . or so he says . . . could be selective about receiving, lol. While I was in Egypt I got a mobile there and I could tell when he had received the txt msg, but it doesn't send that response back to the States.

Thanks everyone.

I have Sprint right now, been with them for over 8years. I am pretty much satisfied with them, but I was thinking to switch just to get the internatioanl txting and also be able to use the phone (emergency only) when I travel. But now that you said you can use it.... hmmm I will check it out, how it is....

Did you have to call them to add it to your plan or you just txt and get charged what you use? And  I am so dumb, how to send international SMSs...is it like sending them here in the US? or placing a international phone call? Sorry I have never done it...and I just checked the Sprint www and it doesnt say much about it.... Thank you!

You should be able to send international text messages using Sprint. Just use the 011..... in front of the international number.. Then again they may not have contracts with certain carriers..

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Verizon's international text rate is expensive: $.25 for each outbound, $.10 for each inbound.

I pay $10 for unlimited domestic IN text messaging (other Verizon users) and have a 50-text allowance for non-Verizon texts.

My text rate was very high when David was not here.... much lower now, as opposed to my 15 year-old daughter who sent/received 2000 text messages last month. At least they were free!

8-30-05 Met David at a restaurant in Germany

3-28-06 David 'officially' proposed

4-26-06 I-129F mailed

9-25-06 Interview: APPROVED!

10-16-06 Flt to US, POE Detroit

11-5-06 Married

7-2-07 Green card received

9-12-08 Filed for divorce

12-5-08 Court hearing - divorce final

A great marriage is not when the "perfect couple" comes together.

It is when an imperfect couple learns to enjoy their differences.
