Here's an update of Aileen's armed robbery. She is home now from the hospital and really only suffered a bruised leg. When the gunman (there were 3 total) shot the lady not willing to give up her necklace and bracelet she quickly handed her bag over and ran out the back of the jeepney. She lost her footing and fell down and someone behind her was in a hurry too and stepped on her leg. There has been no reported news from the police if they know the criminals or if they will be able to capture them. I don't see any chance of recovering the stolen goods. Everything was in Aileen's bag except her birth certificate. She pretty much can't do anything without her passport because everything requires 2 forms of ID so that has to be the first thing to get which will take 3 weeks. Then with the passport she can get her security clearance again and proof of singleness. So now it looks like her interview will be delay by a month. That really sucks. But I'm thankful she is alive. That's what really matters.

wow! i can not even imagine going through something like this! she must have been so scared!! but she absolutely did the right thing by handing over her stuff without a struggle, because who knows what else those animals are capable of!! i'm so happy to hear that she is ok (as ok as she can be after going through something like this). and also glad to know that this wont cause too much of a delay in your process.

not to be nosey or anything...but does Aileen have a debit card? have you considered doing some type of paypal transaction instead of wiring the money to her? maybe that might be a little safer.

either way, i hope the rest of your journey goes smoothly. please keep us updated!!

When something like this happens with you, the most important thing is to know that your love of your life is in safe and will recover. I can hardly imagine how you suffer to postpond the interview, but keep it up and as someone said here, until you have each other, you can conquer everything!

She is poor and doesn't have the means for any savings, checking, credit card or paypal. Wire transfers through Xoom are just $5 so it works well for us...at least it used to.

Brian and I are both glad that she is okay now despite what happened, Mark.

It is sad that the interview may be delayed for about a month but after all the challenges and trials, the price is going to be well worth it- being together for good and be happy to have each other. ?

I keep the same mindset for me and Brian. Day 95 today and still waiting. Really hoping for some news this week. ??

Wow... missed so much while being out on vacation in Russia. Congratulations to all who've seen progress in their cases (especially those late NOA-2; guys, the worst part is over, things get moving after that!), and wishing speedy processing for everybody still waiting! Mark, so sorry to hear about Aileen's robbery! This is so scary.

This is probably going to be my last posting here for a while, as this part of the process is wrapping up for us. :) Interview passed, visa should be at hand in a few days, and my man should be with me in just a couple months, once he wraps up remaining stuff at home.

Visa Journey has been an incredible source of knowledge, support, and good times, too! Thank you all, guys, and best of luck to all of my April filers mates and hopefully we'll meet again doing AOS with our loved ones. One journey ends, another begins, ya know. ;)

Thanks Rosie, but I feel worse for you and Brian. 95 days is ridiculous. What could be taking them so long and can you inquire why the delay? I thought my 2 prior marriages would delay mine buy it didn't. I just found out for just 600 php extra I can expedite her passport and get it in 10 days. Great news.

We don't know what they are doing with ours there. Brian has called a few times and they just wouldn't say anything- all canned responses. Our LUD is still 04/28. I guess all we have to do is wait...

You're right about the passport. I've just gotten one for my daughter last month and it costs 1,200 pesos for express. 10-15 days processing and aileen can add 150 pesos for delivery if she opts to have it delivered straight to their house. ?

no...it has to be signed and dated. there needs to be a letter from both of you, both signed with original signatures and dated. you will likely get an RFE for not having a signature on it. :(

my fiancee intent just printed the intent to marry letter he just put only his name on it , is that okay even he doesnt put signature??
