I'm seeing Dr Lyon tomorrow for my medical, last I checked it had to be 4 recent photos. Now I look at http://www.visadoctor.ca/usaand it says :

  • 4 Passport sized Photo (For Each Applicant)
  • The 4 photos must be 35 mm (13/8”) X 45 mm (13/4”) 4 The head must measure between 25 mm (1”) and 30 mm (11/5”) from crown to chin

Canadian passport size is 50 mm wide X 70 mm high !! What is this size even? Will they reject canadian passport photos?

I have my appointment on Thursday in BC and the letter from the doctor there says

4. PHOTOS
Adults (15 and older) - FOUR passport photos are needed, 2" x 2" size, (50mm x 50mm)
American standard size. No signatures required.

so different doctor require different sized photos? I am mostly confused because it was simply "4 recent photos" when I first made my medical appt for Dr Lyon.. so I got 4 canadian passport photos. Now, it specifies this international visa size! What gives ??

Strange. My husband had his medical with Dr. Lyndon Mascarenhas on 03/17/15 and he brought 4 U.S. sized passport photos (2" x 2"). He didn't have any problems.

Probably too late for you to email them and ask if your appointment is tomorrow. Sorry I can't be more helpful!

I really appreciate the input, I actually managed to get an email back, she said they'd work with it and canadian size was OK.

They've also apparently moved to a new building.. glad I checked!! I probably would have gone to the address I wrote down when I made the appt last month..

So if anyone has the same worries, email to make sure but it seems they prefer the international visa size now. Maybe they aren't actually that stringent, strong wording always worries me.

You are supposed to be providing AMERICAN passport photos, not Canadian. That is the difference. I had mine wrong initially as well and had to get another set when I realized not all passport photos were the same size! Annoying!

I don't know if the medical will reject them but the ones for your green card definitely will need to be the correct size.
