Did you select Immigrant Visa? Here? https://ceac.state.gov/ceacstattracker/status.aspx

You can start to complete it at any time. You can save it for up to 30 days online. You set up a security question and make a note of the reference number which is generated as soon as you open up the form.

That's the website i tried I get the same response. And the NVC they gave me the we process it within 30 days... =-(

Just reporting that I received the offical I-797 in the mail. Two things jumped out to me: 1. It says "listed consulate" but there is none. 2. A few paragraphs but nothing about what the next steps

I don't know when exactly mine was assigned - I called today and immediately checked ceac and the status was available.

So you have your case number from NVC and you are using the Immigrant option when trying the CEAC status check and nothing is coming up? Perhaps you might want to call NVC and ensure that you noted your case number down correctly.

That's what I thought that I had written down the wrong number but i called again they gave me the same information. I tried calling to see if I could speak to someone and ofcorse its too busy for m call to get threw...

Awesome! I'll conveniently be in vietnam next week, so the timing should work out to get this filled out and paid for.

In vietnam you have to deposit cash into a bank account number at HSBC for the fees. It's one of the most shady things I've ever done. I feel like I'm doing a drug deal.

So, like others on here, I had to call 6 different reps before someone finally gave me a case number.

She told me that the system is currently down for system maintenance and processing up to 48 hours, but, after that, should be good to go. Who knows if that is true (although she was the most on top of things i've talked to so far by far), just thought i'd pass it along for those having issues with case status showing up.

NVC does send a letter with your case number. It will go to the petitioner's address, but it takes a few weeks to get there. I think we had our Packet 3 from the consulate before the NVC letter even arrived.

If you're just wondering when it arrives, then yes, you need to call. In spite of the effort required to get through, the agents at the NVC are so nice though. But be prepared for that hold music to be the soundtrack to your dreams for at least a month afterwards!

It took 7 or 8 days from when TSC notified us that it had been sent until NVC received it. I know because I called morning noon and night from day 5 or 6. After they said it was received, they told me that it would take another 35 days to assign a case number. I called the next morning and they had a number for us. So disregard the 35/40 day stuff they tell you.

Yeah, I just want the case number so I can fill out the ds-160. I'll be in vietnam next week for 1.5 weeks, so it'd be super convenient if we could get that done while I am there.
