In my case,

Day 9: Case sent to NVC

Day 17: NVC received the case

Day 35: NVC case number assigned

so my husband filed the petition thru Rapid Visa on the 21st of april and USCIS approved my case on the 23th of September. we haven't received anything yet from the NVC. so I been called NVC from Australia and it kept saying that the operators are busy at the moment. Now the question is why is it so important for us to call them for case number or for anything as I have been advised that my husband will receive the case number and the checklist. secondly how long do you guys think it will take NVC to approve the petition. and thirdly I gave birth to my baby in Australia. now she is an American citizen but do we have to include her in the petition or do we have to apply for a different petition. not sure what to do. please help

Your daughter is not immigrating as she already is a citizen.

Since your baby is already a citizen, you need to report her birth to the nearest American consulate and apply there for her American passport. Here's the link on how to do that:

Mine was approved on the 23rd of sept and nvc received it on the 9th October. I called nvc today and they told me to wait 42days for nvc to issue me a case number. Now that's more than a month smh

There is almost no point to call NVC to get the case number. In my case, the NVC case number arrived three days after it was assigned. I guess calling NVC would save you two days but I don't think it's worth the stress.

I have a similar situation. We were approved on October 9th and they said they sent the case to the Department of State today, October 21st. Hoping that it doesn't take too long to get the case number so we can start moving forward.
