My understanding is that once the AOS fees shows as PAID, you should be able to send out AOS package. If both IV and AOS fees show as paid at the same time, then I think you can submit AOS at any time but the IV package must be submitted only after the DS-260 has been completed. Folks, please chime in and let me know if that is correct.

Point is - your wife's visa is more than likely going to take close to a year before it is available because the case can proceed at the NVC and you would be case complete but you won't receive the interview letter until your priority date is current.

I'm not certain what you were trying to say - but my understanding is that you're trying to say:

1. If you go back now, your family does not want to let you go back?

2. Your wife wants to visit now and then go back and she will come back again once it's approved?

I'm not trying to be rude - I just want to understand your situation so that I can help you better.

I agree with your family because if your wife will join you in the usa , then whats the point to make trip to india. If you have means to make two trips without jeopardizing jobs or finances, then go twice. My wife asked me same thing many years back, I told her firmly that I am not going to come pick her up because she needs to be independent and assured her that it is very easy then she thinks.
