I know my cousin got an interviw for the DV lottery visa 16 days after submitting his paperwork and my spouse and I have to wait months.

How about cutting down the amount of DV lottery applicants? Cairo handles loads of those. They really need to put family immigration visas, student visas and work related visas first.

I wholeheartedly agree with this! I said this to myself when I checked Cairo's interview page and saw all the DV's. Hell my future FIL and MIL won the visa lottery in Egypt and he has a green card before his son can even come meet his AMERICAN wife.

I am so sorry to hear about the waiting in Cairo and the horrible CS feedback you're getting. At least in Amman, they answer your emails, they don't always answer your questions, but they are nice. I will keep you in my prayers that things move faster.

What I don't get though is casa has about 4 times the number of applications when compared to other countries, so I wonder what they do there that makes the time go faster. I filed for my ex years ago and there were not so many people and yes the wait was slightly longer. But geez, they are lightening fast. However, the consulate in Amman has been slow since 2004 at least :(

maybe people from MENA should have the NVC forward their petitions to CASA & have the SO's fly there for an interview

Then CASA would get backloaded and we would still be experiencing the same thing.

I will say one nice thing about Cairo...they are improving on answer emails. I emailed them yesterday afternoon and got a response this morning. The response in email is pleasant, the response to phone inquiries leaves something to be desired.

Do I dare ask what they said?

What I already new...pending administrative processing necessary to the case. Did you expect anything less from Cairo? Just when you think you're closer to the end they close yet another door in your face. I was thinking to find myself a Moroccan fiance. He'd prolly be here sooner than Moh.

I'm not exactly sure what they do but as far as I know they are the only embassy that sits on the visa once security checks are cleared. Not for a couple days or a week or two but for at least a month if not more. It's outrageous IMO.

moody you are sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo right

Wow that's strange. They've had the case nearly two weeks now. Just keep trying via email. Don't let your fiance waste his money calling.

Well actually they didn't get my case until 2/21 per the tracking at DHL. I am trying not to be a worrywart, because it seems that from most Egypt timelines on here it takes about three weeks from them getting the case to mail the packet three. I'll probably email them within a few days though to see what is going on again. Thanks and I'll warn him about the number.

Did you write them back and tell them that so and so at the DOS stated at such and such date that the AP was completed and so what is their excuse for holding it up?

FYI - after I got my NOA2 in the mail I sent an email to the Cairo embassy asking for them to create a provisional file for my fiance. I got a really pleasant response back thanking me for contacting them and that they would send out the Packet 3 within the next 24 hours. My fiance got the Packet 3 within approximately 3 days. So my advice...email then asking for the same thing, make sure that you include your UCIS case number and your fiance's full address.

my 2 cents...
