Hey guys,

Thanks for all the responses. Noooooooooooooooo I have heard nothing back from the Cairo Embassy. Still waiting. I am going to try calling on Sunday morning and see what they say. I don't like calling as I either get put on hold forever or I get someone that I can't understand very well. Last time I had called the lady told me things that I just wanted to hear (like it will take 3 weeks at most for the administrative processing, etc.). Well we all know that's a crock. Anyways- I'll keep you all posted.

Have a good weekend.

I emailed the embassy using the new email address (after sending an email to the old one and getting no response) and this is what I received this morning. So what more is involved in the Administrative Processing besides the DOS stuff?

Dear Sir:

Thank you for your e-mail message.

The case is pending necessary administrative processing. We will

contact you once that has been completed.

Regards,

Consular staff

What they decided is necessary is entirely up to them and unique depending on each case. Unfortunately, until processing concludes, this is pretty much the only information you'll be able to get. I know its tedious.

Sorry for the vague response. My time is a wee bit limited. If you have time to search this site, there has been volumes posted about administrative process and review, as well as helpful links. I hope someone can post those here for you.

Wow...I cannot tell you how many times I saw this same response. There are SOOOO many checks that can be done. For example....they can order a certain check on a certain day and that check will expire in X amount of days. If that check sits and nothing gets done on it.....it expires and the check has to be re-issued. Once upon a time I had the names of all the checks that can be done. It's hard to say what checks will be done for who, but either way it's a pain in the rear I know. I hope he gets out of AR he$$ soon. (F)

Yep that happened to us, Amy. A check was ordered on Dec. 15, expired on Jan. 9 and was ordered again on the 9th. Going through Cairo is absolutely frustrating and brutal. They drag that shitt on and on. Anyone going through Cairo deserves beatification. This AP is a bunch of boolshit.

It's our wedding anniversary today. First year and it really sucks not being together. No updates on anything from the embassy. I checked the visa interview schedule for March and our case number is not on it - I think that's a good sign. Husband sent me a card and some flowers (roses) through the mail for our anniversary. The flowers were a bit smashed, but I don't care. He's so great!!!!!!

If security checks are done......what then does Cairo do? Does anyone know if they're just out taking a shisha break or something and then when they come back a few days later, oops....the securty check is past the valid point so let's run it again....

I don't get how they can get away with that.

some consulates have a *visa meeting* once the clearances are returned in which they discuss the issuance of the visa. I understood this occurs one or so a month, and depending on when your case is returned from DOS, you may have to wait for the meeting. I have no idea if Cairo does this.

I guess the obvious question would be why not have these useless time consuming meetings BEFORE the security checks are sent out. I mean once they're done it should be an automatic thing to give the visa. Nothing more to discuss!!! I think maybe the congressmen should step in but of course I'm so naiive and I'm sure everyone going through Cairo has already voiced their displeasure to their congressmen about this.
