dwheels76 5,468 Posted April 6, 2015 Filed: Citizen (apr) Country: Nigeria Timeline Author Posted April 6, 2015 I had a question about the I-864 form. Is it necessary to fill the form again if I am taking 2014 tax returns. My attorney said that there is no need to do the form again with the new tax returns. I wanted to know if that is correct. I appreciate the help. Well attorney is wrong if you are updating your I-864 you have to tax in new form now with 2014, 2013 and 2012. That's interesting. I dont understand why my attorney would not know about updating the I-864 form with the new tax return information. Thanks so much Dwheels:)

Most of the time, since we're so close to the April 15th tax deadlines, they will only want a copy of your return (AND W-2 and 1099s!!!!). You can always fill out a new I-864 and have it in your folder in case they ask for it - but usually they are pretty specific in the letter. Best of luck! Sukie in NY Sukie, My interview letter did not say anything about a new I-864, but it did say to bring most recent federal income tax return. I will have the 2014 W-2 along with the last three years. Also, for financial evidence it has a Y- meaning the NVC sent this form or document to the consulate. I appreciate the advice:)
JennyLu 65 Posted April 6, 2015 Filed: IR-1/CR-1 Visa Country: Guatemala Timeline Posted April 6, 2015 (edited) Hi all, I have a question perhaps someone here can help with? We have cc and are awaiting interview date. We got a checklist to bring financial current evidence to interview as we filed a while ago and did not include even 2013 tax info, so our financials are old. Since then I am no longer working and plan to use my father for sponsor. What form is it he needs to fill out? I-864? or something different? If I-864 do you know what box he would check? Is he considered the joint sponsor, because I am original sponsor even though I am not working now? Thanks! Edited April 6, 2015 by JennyLu
SuzieQTpi 54 Posted April 6, 2015 Filed: Citizen (pnd) Country: Canada Timeline Posted April 6, 2015 Help please Got the interview letter (P4) for interview in May, and it says... "Bring updated Federal income tax information to the interview. If a sponsor filed an I-864 (Affidavit of Support) and provided the NVC with proof of an IRS Federal income tax extension in lieu of a Federal income tax return, bring the sponsor's most recent Federal income tax return to the visa interview." Does this mean I have to bring the 2014 tax info for both the petitioner and the co-sponsor or just the co-sponsor as the petitioner does not meet the minimum but the co-sponsor does? Would just the 2011, 2012 and 2013 info that was already sent be enough? I know they need financial info on sponsor(s), but as I will remain employed by my current employer (working remotely) and my income is more than enough, would a letter from my employer and my tax returns be enough to prove financial means?

You need to being updated I-864 for you and your father does the same I-864, last 3 years taxes filed show the most current tax transcript, most current pay stub, letter of employment. If he filed jointly with wife she has to fill out the I-864A. Also he has to include proof of US citizenship, LPR or naturalization. Yes he is the joint sponsor.
