Yeo, Deborah had got my MO ?

When it says issued and I see the courier has it, I'm booking flights. I've been sleeping on a floor in a living room and living out of suitcases for 6 weeks. As I've said before, it's going to be a long time before I start typing the letters TSC with my middle finger. We will never get back what they took from us and I won't forget it quickly. Little big of bitterness shining through here, haha.

I will allow about 2 or 3 days

I've opted to collect it rather than use the home delivery service. Sometimes that means you can get it the day before you would have if they had to deliver it to your house. All this waiting and uncertainty has had more of a lasting effect on me than I anticipated. I thought I'd be fine when we were approved, but it seems that was being a bit naive. I'm typing this on my phone and roll come bs k and do a proper update later when I'm home, but it's been a difficult week for me.

Oh yay yay! They finally forwarded James's medical on to the embassy on Friday, status updated today. He had to get additional records from his doctor, that didnt say anything more than what he had already brought in, but it must have satisfied them.

Still didn't get the MMR thing on his vaccinations straigtened out. They say that he requires 3 doses and so that is why they wrote the "government restrictions". I was under the impression that 2 doses were sufficient but perhaps his were too close together (4 weeks). At this point I don't care as long as we get past this.

So now we are farther behind but just glad to be back to waiting without as much of the worry.

Well that's weird. Neil only had 1 mmr dose and they just marked it as insufficient time but nichnick said we didn't have to worry with the other for aos. So not sure why they did his that way. But either way congrats and finally glad you're moving on to the waiting game with us now for our interview letters. They got his medical last Thursday so wish they would mail it already

I know its weird, and CDC says two doses at least 4 weeks apart, which he had, but he just isn't willing to argue with them, just glad they forwarded the rest of it.

Hope your wait is over shortly.

See- now I could have sworn that James doctor told him that you can't have more that 2 doses of MMR in your lifetime

I am nurse and while you can it is generally not recommended because that vaccine is live.

Hopefully we can just send the records for AOS and they will have more sense. If we get RFE we will see a civil surgeon and get them transcribed.

I never had the MMR as when I was a kid that vaccine didn't exist (it was only routinely given from approx. 1988). I had the Measles vaccine, but no Mumps or Rubella. Back in the 70's loads of kids got Mumps and Rubella, it wasn't much of a problem unless you were already ill/ elderly and especially if you were pregnant.

Anyhow, I needed to have the MMR for when I go through AOS, and as Mumps and Rubella aren't available individually I had to have the MMR. I had the first shot last week, and I'm due for the booster after 4 weeks (I'll likely get mine in the beginning of June). The London K1 guide on the VJ forum states you need only the 1 shot and the follow up booster, and my practice Nurse confirmed this. No idea where this 3 doses has come from, surely that's incorrect? Or do they mean he needs three SHOTS to meet requirements i.e. MMR, MMR Booster and TDap?

You have totally confused me. Neil didn't show he had an mmr so we had one shot and went for medical. They selected not valid for second one yet due to time frame his nurse said that we didn't need the second dose as an adult like you would as a child that one shot is sufficient and nichnick said that is also all aos require for adults. So I'm a little confused at your question sorry.

For clarity, NONE of the shots are required for the non immigrant K1 Visa. You need the shots for when you apply for AOS AFTER you get married, AOS will not be granted otherwise.

You need 2 x MMR shots - the initial shot followed by a booster after 4 weeks (this is confirmed by the nurse that gave me the shots at my doctors practice). The nurse at your medical was correct in that the second was not valid as (I assume?) you had the medical less than 4 weeks after the initial MMR shot? There must be a minimum of 4 weeks between the initial MMR shots and the booster.

Now it is getting confusing as TLSR2014 was under the impression that you need 3 x MMR shots, you say an adult only needs one and the guides state one plus a booster. If you've never had an MMR before, regardless of age, I strongly suspect that you will need 1 x MMR shot and 1 x MMR Booster after 4 weeks to meet AOS requirements.

This might make it a little clearer:

"MMR - (if born in 1957 or later)-Mumps/measles/rubella. It's two doses in your life, but if you get the first dose, and 4 weeks haven't passed by your medical, they will waive the second dose for "insufficient time interval". If you only had one dose as a child, get a second one before the medical"

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/474161-london-k1-a-complete-guide/

If you've never had an MMR shot in your life, you will need 2 x shots (initial, then booster). If you had one as a child and never had a second, you only need the booster. You need written proof from your doctor showing this for your vaccinations to be validated at the medical. Otherwise you need to get it sorted in the USA before you can get your AOS.

First I know that it is after and for AOS it was just a figure of speech as I mean without having another. And no not all adults get two doses of an mmr. And at his Dr practice they gave him one and stated as an adult there is no need to come back for the second dose. I suppose it is up to each physician. However the way I understood it, you can go back several pages in this thread and it's there, they only require one dose of mmr for adults simply because it could just be a booster. I would imagine the three doses indicated on the guide though I have not looked was meaning one for each of the vaccines you are getting in the mmr. I would imagine only one is require for an adult since most adults only require the Booster and not both like a child does. I am stating what was previously stated in this thread earlier. You can scroll back a few pages to see.

I know what an mmr is and dosage as I work at a medical insurance office. I am stating that according to the info previously posted on this thread see a few pages back. That for aos purposes they only required one.

Sorry to cause all of the confusion. My James had 2 doses of MMR. The first dose was 5 December 2014, the second dose 20 January 2015. The doses were more than 4 weeks apart, both documented with complete dates on the same page as all of his other immunizations.

When he had his medical, the vaccination form they wrote "governmental restriction" under the MMR space. I had him ask them to correct the form as he has had his two doses since he needed to given them the additional medical information they had requested anyway. The person he spoke to told him that they had already forwarded the results of the medical and that they had arrived on Friday and that the MMR was documented that way because it requires 3 doses. That is incorrect but he didn't want to argue because he was just happy they had sent on his medical results.
