I'm about to start looking at/ filling in my AOS forms. Where did you download them from? I'm only asking because I'm being too lazy to go and look!

We still haven't had our NOA 2 yet, already filled in the relevant missing forms section on USCIS two weeks ago and nothing. Slightly irritating!

On the topic of AOS, we have completed our forms and supporting documents. I used Nich-Nick's guide and downloaded the forms from the official website.

Can anyone confirm that I can disregard the expired dates at the top of the forms? There don't seem to be any updated ones on the website. I seem to recall that you just use whatever is on the website at the time but can't remember where I read that.

Also, I kept reading about AOS being very complicated and difficult. It was pretty straightforward. I'm assuming that I haven't missed anything? It's the AOS, EAD and AP forms plus the G1145 and all the supporting documents on the list and you send it to the Chicago Lockbox. Am I correct? Otherwise we are good to go with filing the next stage

I read somewhere on USCIS that it states just to use the most up to date forms. So in my mind (as I saw the expiry date too) that you are fine as long as they are submitted to lockbox before the new forms are released. I have it on my to do list to check the form dates on line just before I submit.

It looked straight forward to me, just a lot paper work and form filling. 3 lots of copies for certain doc's each for EAD, AP and AOS etc. Also the I-864.

The dates at the tops of the forms are not form expiration dates. The OMB date is when the Office of Management and Budget review is due. They review the forms as mandated by the Paperwork Reduction Act every two(?) years. The form has a public comment period, then it is maybe revised, changed drastically, or stays the same. Any changes have to be posted for comments before eventually becoming final. Once final it will be posted on the USCIS.gov Forms page. Whatever is posted there is the latest. Always get your forms from USCIS and check to make sure your edition date is the latest. The edition date is at the bottom. If the date is followed by Y, it means Yes previous versions of the form would be accepted. If followed by N, it means No to using an earlier version. So if you had a form all ready to go and a new one was posted online, if the brand new form had a Y, you could still use the one you had already filled out. Y=Yes the older version is acceptable. I recall a conversation between nich-nick, chrismorrison and maybe some others that were in his wave about the I-864. There's an I-864ez version that is available to use if the sponsor meets certain qualifications. It's a shorter and easier form than the regular I-864. http://www.uscis.gov/i-864ez

The problem I notice most often with AOS is people don't fill out their I-864 correctly and document it correctly. I can't stress enough that you should read those 13 pages of instructions at least three times. Don't depend on a four line forum answer as your instructions. One of those people who got it wrong may be the one answering you. Read the real instructions to get the details.

My method for every form is print out the instructions and with a highlighter in hand, start reading and marking anything that sounds like it applies to you. Then go back and read it again, especially what you highlighted. That may sound like overkill, but I never got an RFE...ever! Like Darnell says, Get off the hand phone.

Keep in mind that K1s are not the only ones using this form. Not everybody is filling out one for a spouse. Some people are sponsoring parents or step children.

Yuna, mine went straight from "ready" to issued status overnight (UK time overnight), didn't seem to show AP (maybe very briefly)at least from what I saw when I was checking. Two days in any case to get to issued. Hopefully yours goes to AP status soon so at least you know something's being done

Check my signature. Interview on 20th, AP on 21st, Issued on 22nd!

I don't think I checked on the 20th after I got home from the interview (I didn't think it would change that quickly). I checked on the 21st to see it had gone to "Administrative Processing", then was very surprised when I checked on the 22nd to see it changed to "Issued".

My Visa was delivered 8 days after the interview

M's just changed to ready this morning, so his was in AP 3 days.

quick question for you, first of, your diary entry of the embassy interview day is super helpful for a lot of people myself included, i do have one question you may be able to help with, when did you pay the fees for the london embassy part, once you received the Packet 4 do they tell you how to make payment ? or before? i only ask as I'm awaiting my interview date and have not been informed to make any payments yet.

when you receive packet 4 with your time and date it shows you the instructions of how to pay i don't think you can do this before.
