Had my interview today. Here is my experience.

My interview was for 11:20am. Got there at 11:00am and waited until 12:45pm to be called. I was very annoyed by the time I got called but I couldn't be mad even if I wanted to because the officer who interviewed be was kind and professional. The first thing he said to me was "I've been doing this for 11years and I've never met anyone from your country trying to became a U.S citizen". We both laughed.

The interview was very painless. He started with the questions:

How many U.S senators?

How old to sign up for selective service

One state bordering Canada

Which ocean is in the west coast

When was the constitution written?

What does religious freedom mean?

Written and verbal test

How many senators are there (read)

We have 100 senators (write)

One small issue I had was when he got to the yes or no questions. He asked if I ever failed to file taxes and to give him my recent tax return...which i did not have because it was not one of things asked to bring. Thankfully I had my payment plan from the IRS because I owed taxes last year and wanted to show him that I set up installments payments. Apart from that everything was ok.

After about 15mins he approved my file and said to look out in the mail in 2 weeks for my oat letter.

Glad its all over.

Hey as you applied under 3 year rule..... Just wanted to ask you , did they ask any questions related to your marriage.... I applied under the same rule.... I sent my application on July 30 in leweisville Texas lockbox

Sanjay we did talk about my marriage but the question wasn't part of the interview specifically, it happened that we were chatting about my work which led to talking about my wife's work and then marriage.

What to wear to ceremony? Does gray pants, solid white long sleeves shirt and stripe blue tie sounds acceptable attire for the ceremony?

Just came back from my Oath ceremony!, I am officially a US Citizen!!!

I was approved!!!! Yay!, My interview was this morning at the Atlanta office. I arrived at 9:00 am for my 9:30 am appointment. I finally was called in at 10:00 am, The interviewer was a stone-faced and very unfriendly middle aged lady. The interview itself took about 15 minutes. I was asked for my ID, Green Card, Passport and Social Security Card. She then tried to give me a hard time for not bringing my husband to the interview but I told her that it was not required. Then she backed off.

She went through the application and YES/NO questions really fast. When we got to the citations part, I told her that I had a speeding tickets, and she waived her hand... stating that it was not important.

She then moved on to the read/write & 6 questions:

Read:

Who lived in America before the Europeans arrived?

Write:

The American Indians first lived in the United States.

What is the "rule of law"?

Who is the Governor of your state now?

Who is the "Father of Our Country"?

What did Martin Luther King, Jr. do?

Where is the Statue of Liberty?

Name two national U.S. holidays?

She then smiled for the very first time and said "Congratulations, you passed!". She asked if I was interested in a Special Oath Ceremony taking place at The College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta. I gladly accepted. I asked her about a same day Oath Ceremony and she said that they have stopped doing it in the Atlanta office.She then told me to wait in the Oath Ceremony room for my Oath Letter. It finally arrived an hour later. The Oath Ceremony is on Tuesday, August 18th 2015. My case Status changed to Oath Ceremony, 30 mins later.

I thank everyone on this forum for all their support. Kash, Please kindly update my timeline!

Ah BTW, at the oath ceremony, they told us that there is no longer a need to go to the SS administration to update the status, that now is done automatically after about 10 days or so....

Wow thanks. Good to know. Did they say why and when they started doing that and if it's effective nationwide?
