I had my N400 interview today at the Los Angeles Field Office. The appointment was for 12:00PM. I parked across the street from the office in the Los Angeles Mall Parking lot and was in the waiting room by 11:30 after clearing the security.

Even though the waiting room didn't look very busy, I was called in after some wait at 1:50PM. The immigration officer was polite and professional. She administered the oath and got down to business. We went over the information that I had filled out in the application form. There was some confusion about my international travel dates after the time I had submitted my application. I wanted to double check the information which was in my phone, but use of any electronic device during the interview was not permitted. Before we got to the yes/no questions, the officer gave the civics/reading and writing test.

The questions I was asked were:

1. What is freedom of religion?

2. When do we need to register for selective service?

3. Name a state that borders Canada.

4. How many Senators do we have?

5. Which ocean is on the East coast?

6. When was the Constitution written?

Reading:

What do we pay to the government of United States?

Writing:

We pay taxes.

Once this was done we went through all the yes/no questions. I had traffic citations from 4-5 years back which I had mentioned in the application. I did not have any proof of having paid them with me during the interview. The officer just asked me if I had paid the fines and done the traffic school to which I replied yes. She did not ask any further questions on this which was a relief.

After going though the full application, the officer made me sign a couple of forms and made me double check my personal information. She handed me the N652 and said I was being recommended for approval and that I should receive the information about the oath ceremony in the mail. She walked me out of the office and on the way made photocopies of my DL, GC and passport.

It took about 25 minutes from beginning to end.

My fiancé's oath in LA will be on Oct.14 :)

That's great news. If I remember correctly even your fiance had to wait a long time after his biometrics appointment. I am hoping mine is on the 14th as well. I will update once I get the letter in the mail.

Yea, it took 5 long months before he was scheduled for interview and it took 3 days for him to receive his oath letter.

Hey guys I have one question.... I have interview tomorrow at Atlanta office .... And I have filled under 3 year rule..... I just have a question do I have to take my wife with me as she is in Virginia.... And are they going to ask me questions related to my marriage as well or something or just related to the citizenship

It is scheduled for 8:00 AM. I think the ceremony is supposed to start at 9:00 AM (based on the court website).

I have been waiting for 2 months and 11 days since I passed my interview. BTW, my field office is Orlando Florida. I got an email on 8/4/2015 saying I have been placed in line for oath ceremony scheduling, but so far nothing has happened. I do recall that the interview officer told me that my case would take longer, up to three months, before I can attend oath ceremony since I requested to change my name. OK, I am fine with that. however, it is getting very close to three months. Should I get a letter first, like half a month ahead of time, before the oath ceremony takes place? and also, in my area, judicial oath ceremony only happens once a month. and from the information I have gathered, they usually are in the middle of the month. So by looking at today's date, looks like I won't be able to attend this month's ceremony again. If it gets pushed to next month, that will be almost 3.5 months. I JUST CAN'T BELIEVE IT.

I am hoping that people in Orlando area who have the same situation can drop a line here, so I know I am not alone. Thank you very much! It's getting more and more frustrating.
