After three calls (two of the previous calls just got disconnected mysteriously), I finally spoke to a tier two, who told me their system specifically for access to N-400 has been down for the past two days, and asked me to call back later.

Things have developed to a point (after hearing so many contradictory info from different officers and witnessing mysteries) that I started to suspect if they just try to fudge my case and respond me random stuff.

Hope not the case, but really don't know what to believe either LOL

His green card is expiring on 28 of this month and he has an interview for n400 on October 13.... Will thr be problem because he will have expired green card.... Or he has to renew the green card first and then apply for citizenship.... Please reply....

Based on similar VJ posts, this is not a problem, but he still needs to bring the expired GC to his interview and oath ceremony. There is no point in spending money to renew his GC when he will be returning it when he is naturalized in a few months.

All done – now US Citizens! I didn’t say but my wife and 20 yo daughter did theirs also, so 3 of us on this.

Interviews on Tuesday went fine, spent first 15 mins going through the application…, a few questions asking “not been a member of a terrorist org etc”. And “you agree / promise if required by law, you will bear arms, do work for government if required”…etc.

All stuff from the N400 application

Then Questions (very easy ones for me – no names or dates):

What is the name of the National Anthem?

What is the supreme law of the land?

How many Senators are there?

When must all men register for the Selective Service?

What ocean is on the West Coast?

Why does the flag have 13 stripes?

Then asked me to read from on a page “We have one hundred Senators”

Now a separate blank sheet of paper “please write the following”….

“we have one hundred Senators”

I was back out in waiting room in less than 25 mins. Then wife called for hers, then my daughter.

Done. All passed 100%.

Arranged Oath Ceremony for Thursday (found out they have them every Thursday in Detroit), we went and all got our Certificates yesterday afternoon. Done.

My wife’s Questions were:

Name one of the longest rivers?

Name one state that borders Canada? We live in Michigan…

How old do Citizens have to be to vote for President?

We elect a Senator for how many years?

What stops one branch of government becoming too powerful?

What Ocean is on the East Coast?

My daughter can’t remember all hers, but this is what she did remember:

When was the Constitution written?

What is the name of the Speaker of the House?

What is the economic system of the US?

Who makes federal law?

Oath done...It was a beautiful ceremony at Turner Field in Atlanta, along with 500 other new citizens !!! Kudos to USCIS !!

bad luck.

I called USCIS today again and spoke to a tier 2. It was a super nice lady. She really seems to be in desire of helping me, but she told me the same thing that the system has been down since Monday (hmmm so it sounds worse now), and their team has very limited access.

Is it my misconception or is it true that their computer system is constantly down? I remember calling in August and someone told me a similar story. I hope it's not just their standard reply to revisiting customers. LOL

The most interesting/ironic/however-you-want-to-call-it thing is that the on-hold music I had was Everytime I Close My Eyes by Babyface.

"Girl, it's been a long, long time comin' yes it has. But I, I know that it's been worth the wait yeah"
