Hello, everyone

First of all, thank you guys for sharing your experience of citizenship application process. All the info provided has been very helpful. I really appreciate it. Now I'd like to share my experience here to help those people in need.

My field office is located in Orlando Florida.

App mailed out on: 3/26/2015

finger prints: 4/21/2015

Interview: 7/28/2015

(Now waiting for oath letter to arrive.)

Anyways, I was so excited last night about today's interview, and of course kinda nervous too, so I only slept like about 3 hours. I thought I would be tired, but everything turned to be OK.

I arrived at the field office like about 40 min early. First I went thru the security (very similar to the airport process,) and then I took my letter and my ID to the reception desk to check in. They gave me a ticket with a number on it, and informed me to have a seat in the lounge and wait for my number to be called. While the office was checking me in, I noticed that there were around 20 people scheduled for interview at the same time.

I took my number, found a seat in the lounge, and I started to become nervous. It was very quiet, and the quietness made me more nervous. There were around 50 people waiting at that time, but not all of them were there for citizenship interview. Before long, I noticed that there were only three people waiting ahead of me. While I was anxiously waiting for the officer to come out to get me, one male officer came out with a few pieces of paper in his hand, and he started to call people's name. I overheard that their oath ceremony letters were just made ready, which told me that if you pass the interview, you can get the oath ceremony letter right away. I was very happy about that, but...(I will explain later.)

40 minutes later, a very beautiful and professional lady came out and called my number. We greeted each other, and I followed her to her office. She instructed me to sit down, and asked me to take out all my documents, and then she asked me to swear to tell the truth. Very simple.

Before we started, she asked me that if wanted to change my name. I said yes, and she said if you change your name, your ceremony will take place in the court house, and it might take up to 3 months. I was very disappointed at what she told me, and knew for sure I would not be able to walk out with the oath ceremony letter. What else can I do but wait? Anyway, The whole interview was very short, maybe around 10 minutes. What she did was to go over the application to make sure all the info on the form was correct, and to go through the test part. Excuse me for not remembering the questions, but they were very easy. And then she said, congratulations, you passed. She also handed over me a piece of paper with her name on it to confirm it. And of course, she did instruct me to sign a few papers, including my photos with my future new full name on them. Overall, the whole process was very easy. I am very grateful that the officer was very nice and professional throughout the whole process.

I know some of you guys are still waiting for your interview to come up, and hopefully, the information I just provided can be a little helpful to some of you guys. Good luck with you all!

Anyone? I am taking a decision can not be made as a denial. Is there a chance I will be denied because of my divorce from my ex? also I took the divorce decree with my wife restoring her maiden name but she had an amended decree because she wanted to keep my last name. The officer disagree that she had my last name but I never had the chance to show the amended decree. Any way that may cause a denial? I have been freaking out all day long.

I interviewed this morning past the test but decision can not yet be made. Officer asked me questions about my pass marriage and my ex whom sponsored my k1 visa and conditional gc. But we have a kid together and child support on time, she even kept my last name. asking me about criminal history don't they do a complete background check?

When did you get married to your ex? How did you apply for citizenship- through the 5 year residency year rule?

Today my husband passed his interview test at the Los Angeles Office. They said he will receive his oath ceremony invitation 4-6 weeks!

FYI, his appointment time was 8 am and when he got there at 7:40, there were already 40 people in line ahead of him.

Congrats!

i showed up for my interview 20 minutes early. After waiting for about an hour, a gentleman approached me and said " I'm sorry, we will have to reschedule your interview because we do not have all your files but it wouldn't be long." So I left wondering why did they even scheduled me if they do not have my files.

I called the military helpline when I got home only to be told that my file was there, they just couldn't find it because it was an outside contractor that was initially handling my case but my file has now been found. I called the helpline 15 minutes after I left their office. It's been almost 2 weeks and still waiting for the letter to come in..

I wonder how long this is going to take. Any ideas?

I passed the test and interview this afternoon!

Everything went smoothly within 30 minutes. I was interviewed by a very friendly Officer.

Just wanted to share what I was tested on:

Reading : Who lives in the White House.

Written : The President lives in the White House

Civic questions :

1. Who is the Governor of California?

2. Name two national US holidays?

3. Who is the "Father of our country"?

4. What did the Emancipation Proclamation do?

5. What did Martin Luther King Jr do?

6. Where is the Statue of Liberty?

He mentioned that the next Oath Ceremony is on August 12. I hope he managed to push me in on that day.

Good luck to those who are waiting for their turns!!

much congratulations everybody who are done with the interview and waiting for their oath ceremonies. My interview is next week and I'm wondering about one thing:

During the interview, were any of you asked for an ID other than the green card and the passport? It is written on the interview letter that applicants must bring the permanent resident card and another form of ID such as a driver's license. I don't have another form of ID except for the passport and Green Card so I'm wondering if that is really considered important.

thanks.

Yes, I showed my drivers license, I think that it is because it has your address and your name (I also showed him my social security card as well)

You don't have any other form of ID?

Congrats UK_FAN.

Try to call them tomorrow, ask for Level 2 agent, he/she should be able to tell you the exact day.

So I called them first thing this morning and he said that I'm "in line for the oath". I guess I jumped the gun. But he did say that it will be in August. Didn't let me speak with a tier 2 person, do you think that would have made a difference?

Does your status show inline for oath or oath notice mailed ?

If it's the second , then tier 2 would have access to see the exact date and location of the oath.

If your still inline for oath, then you need to wait until it change to oath ceremony notice was mailed ...

It's a but upsetting seeing that most people (even those in NYC office same as me) getting scheduled for an interview, while I haven't received any notice after fingerprint. Should I really start panicking now? I called USCIS but they said the process time now for NYC is backlogged to Nov. 2014, but almost all applicants from NYC office are scheduled in early August. Does that mean there is something wrong with my case?

I would call USCIS and find out!
