Hi all...

I've had Excel already, but I'm just in a Microsoft Access class at school this semester. By tomorrow our teacher wants us to have some kind of idea what we want to do for our own project.....this will be due in a couple of months or so with several tables and all the other components of the program...my problem is...we're not really very far into the class at all, and I really have no idea what type of thing I am looking for...I don't know *exactly* what Access is capable of..what it does exactly. We've done a few small tutorials, but they have dealt with the very basics of the program, not what all we will be getting into further down the line. The project is supposed to be something that would help us out in our daily lives here at home (providing we have Access and are able to use it from home...) Any ideas anyone? Thanks! Michelle

Craig has it on his computer and is going to put it on this one, and I have a book...I just am mainly trying to think up something useful I could use the program for...from people who might have used it and have some kind of thought as to what it "does best' if yanno what I mean...thanks a lot for taking the time to look that up though! :) M.

a catalogue of recipes you like, a listing of the books in your house complete with all publishing information, a catalogue of your photographs including information about who, what, when, where and why, a catalogue of your movie or music collections. Access is a database manager - which means that it stores and organizes information that has a common denominator (i.e music) , and allows for a variety of ways to re-access that information so that later on you can find what you need quickly. It is often used in businesses for managing a client information database.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Maybe you could use it to track and organize your household expenses - things that are sorted weekly(like groceries, gas), monthly(phone, electric, etc.), quarterly (my water bill is) bi-anually (my car ins.) and annually Homeowners Ins, taxes). That would be really useful (IMO).
