hahaha one of the things i learned from noor is ... "wallak rooh emshy" when the cats or dog are being a pain in the butt!! Noor had said that for quite some time and i noticed it was always when the cat had jumped on him he would say wallak rooh emshy (sometimes emshoo for fun) and put the cat down on the floor... one day he was being silly and came to the couch and fell on top of me and i said... wallak rooh emshoooo... and he laughed so hard he couldn't breathe!!!

he also likes it when i say.. beddak takol shi? (do you want to eat something) or beddak tashrab shi (do you want to drink something) ... is it the same for egyptians ??

ezayek/ezayak is a good one I think, I've never heard anyone else say it except egyptians, and amel eh/ amla eh also egyptian to me.

Most other arab coutries would say kefek/kefak for how are you...

what is something really egyptian?

how bout 'keda' = like this/like that

speaking of songs, that is another good way to learn arabic... have your SO transliterate egyptian songs and then translate that to english. then you can compare each line with the english... I had noor do that for a lot of my favorite arabian songs and it helped me learn some phrases in egyptian (then he would teach me the jordanian version) It was a lot of fun......

I did get the term "lazem akoun wayak" from a hisham abbas song... it is one noor transliterated and translated for me...if i can find the email, I'll post it here :)
