If you receive a RFE, how much time does USCIS give you to send in the requested information? Or is there a time limit?

Can you send in additional information after you have filed, but you have not received a RFE?

You shouldn't send in information unless it is requested. Knowing the government it seems unlikely the information you send would ever be united with your original file so it is best to wait until they send you an RFE for it or bring it to your interview in case it is requested. What is the nature of the information you think they will need from you that you didn't send? 87 days is correct for all of the RFEs I've seen - if you don't respond in that time your case will be considered abandoned.
