Finally, my visa was granted! We are leaving to the states very soon. See the following info for our case. I’ve also attached the list of submitted document to the Embassy on the interview date below.

IR-1 / CR-1 Visa

Consulate : Bangkok, Thailand

Marriage : May 30, 2002

I-130 Sent : 2005-09-09

I-130 NOA1 : 2005-09-13

I-130 Approved : 2005-09-17

Packet 3 Received : 2005-09-17

Packet 3 Sent : 2005-09-29

Packet 4 Received : 2005-09-29

Interview Date : 2005-12-19

Remark: On the interview day, I submitted:

1. Birth Certificate (translated and certified by the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affair)

2. Affidavit of support (I-864) – my husband’s income doesn’t meet the requirement, so he asked his mother to be a co-sponsor. I didn’t file the I-864A, as his mom’s income is way over the minimum requirement – she didn’t want to bring his father, a household member, to be involved with the process.

3. My husband’s Tax return (3 recent tax years)

4. My husband’s Mother’s Tax return (3 recent tax years) and her W-2

5. Police Certificates (see http://sb.police.go.th/pcscenter for info)

6. 2 identical color 5cmx5cm Photographs with white background, front view

7. Marriage Certificate (translated and certified by the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affair)

8. Marriage Photos and Photos of last visit to the United States

9. A letter of determining domicile in the United States – as my husband hasn’t been back to the US for 8 years, he had to show the embassy that he has established a permanent residence in the U.S. for our return. His mother made a written agreement to rent us one of her houses; we also submitted this letter to the Embassy.

10. Medical Certificate from U.S. Embassy Certified Hospital (The Embassy gave me the list of hospitals)

11. Visa Application Processing Fee (380 USD)

When we arrived at the Embassy, 8.00 am, we submitted the abovementioned documents. The officer quickly screened our paperwork and told us to make the payment and the cashier. We waited for 2 hours until an officer call us to the interview window. He basically asked us 3 questions; 1. Who is our co-sponsor?, 2. What was the purpose of our last visit to the U.S.?, and, 3. How long did we stay in the U.S. during the last visit?. We answered the questions, the officer looked through our paperwork for about 20 seconds, and then he told us to come back the next day to pick up my visa.

I would like to thanks VisaJourney.com for your very informative website – I’ve got great advice from several people through your forum regarding the document, especially the I-864. :)

CONGRATULATIONS.

Looks llike your interview was a breeze (except for waiting 3 hours :D )

When you say you submitted the 3 most recent tax returns, did you mean you submitted the 2005 as well?

Thanks..

Hi kimjoshian,

Regarding the 3 tax years, I submitted the tax return for 2002-2004, as our interview date was in December 2005 so the 2005 tax year hadn't ended yet at that time.
