0bama's agenda is clear: he promised to close Guantanamo, and regardless what military commanders and CIA were telling him, he was going to get-er-done! Consider just how insensitive he is to the American people, and especially to the families, men and women who have actually served their country with distinction as they received abuse instead of thanks and kindness.
Senator Feinstein knew the swap was a big mistake,

WHITE HOUSE CLAIM BERGDAHL'S LIFE WAS IN DANGER RECEIVES BIPARTISAN REJECTION
Both Democrats and Republicans have rejected an excuse offered by the White House for why they were unable to inform Congress of the Bergdahl prisoner swap. The White House has offered several excuses for why it failed to notify Congress 30 days in advance as required by law.
In a briefing for Senators Wednesday, the White House claimed Bergdahl’s life was in danger if word of the swap leaked to the media. The AP was first to publish word of the threat to Bergdahl’s life on Thursday. Their initial story was only a few paragraphs and attributed the claim to three unnamed “congressional officials.”
Senator’s who were there have since come forward to contest the White House claim. When asked about the threat, Democratic Senator Feinstein told Bloomberg, “No, I don’t think there was a credible threat, but I don’t know. I have no information that there was.”
Republican Senator John McCain also rejected the AP report telling NBC News, “I never heard that.” He added, “That flies in the face of everything that we know about the value thatpeople like the Taliban place on having prisoners. And to me, from what Iknow, threatening to kill them is a very unlikely scenario.”
Similarly, Republican Sen. Inhofe told NBC News the claim was “absurd.” Sen. Lindsey Graham gave the AP a rundown of the litany of excuses offered by the White House, “First, we had to do the prisoner dealbecause he was in imminent danger of dying. Well, they saw the video inJanuary and they didn’t act until June. So that holds no water. Now theargument is the reason they couldn’t tell us is because it jeopardizedhis life. I don’t buy that for a moment because he was a very valuableasset to the Taliban.“
In contrast, Sen. Angus King told the AP, “We were briefed that if these discussions had leaked out, there was a reasonable chance Bowe Bergdahl may have been killed.”
Since the AP story broke yesterday as a brief piece attributed to unnamed officials, it has been expanded and rewritten. The current version of the story reads, “There was no overt threat but rather anassessment based on intelligence reports that Bergdahl’s life would bein jeopardy if news of the exchange got out and the deal failed, twosenior U.S. officials familiar with efforts to free the soldier saidThursday.” Details of that assessment have apparently not been released.
As Breitbart News reported yesterday, the most recent offer to swap Bergdahl for 5 Taliban leaders at Gitmo was made by a Taliban spokesman during an interview with a reporter for the AP last year. After word of the offer was published by the AP the Obama administration was said to respond positively. The outlines of a possible deal for Bergdahl were first discussed in 2011 and were published by multiple news sources in 2012.

Interesting article that I have yet to digest. For sure there will be a lot of talk of this in coming days. Veterans understand the seriousness of this charge, especially during wartime. The men and women who fight to keep us free live by the law as dictated by the UCMJ. They all learn it, and all know it. No mayo included Janelle. A conviction includes death, life imprisonment, or what the court decides. His comrades seek the highest penalty.

Was the national anthem playing in your head whilst writing this? Tall about laying it on thick with a spoon. Sorry, but nobody fighting in Iraq is keeping anyone in this country free. Maybe the guy shouldn't have deserted his post, but at this point in the game, does it really matter? Private England and her cohorts didn't face the death penalty and they did some pretty terrible c#%p. Three years and a dishonorable discharge was all she got. All this guy did was run away. A coward perhaps, but I don't see why he should get the death penalty for what he did.

Official: At least 3 members of 'Taliban 5' tried to reconnect with terror networks
EXCLUSIVE: At least three of the five Taliban leaders traded last year for Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl have tried to plug back into their old terror networks, a government official familiar with the intelligence told Fox News, describing it as an attempt to "re-engage."
The new allegations come as Bergdahl now faces desertion charges, and as the one-year deal governing the former Guantanamo detainees' supervised release in the Gulf nation of Qatar is set to expire -- at the end of May.
The director of the Defense Intelligence Agency recently told Congress that, after that expiration, all his officers can do is warn the U.S. government if the men return to the battlefield.
"I've seen nothing that causes me to believe these folks are reformed or [have] changed their ways or intend to re-integrate to society in ways to give me any confidence that they will not return in trying to do harm to America," Rep. Mike Pompeo, R-Kan., a member of the House intelligence committee, told Fox News.
The official who described the attempts by three to make contact did not identify the men by name. But the evidence came to light through intelligence from liaison services and monitored communications available to the U.S. government.
A defense official did not dispute the claim, emphasizing that one of the men has come "very close, trying to provide advice, council or inspiration" to his terror network, while the other two had not crossed that line.
In January, CNN was first to report, and U.S. officials later confirmed, that one of the five fighters was making phone calls to militants. The latest claim indicates those efforts were more widespread.
A State Department official, though, disagreed with the characterization of the intelligence and how it relates to the "Taliban Five's" activities.
"None of the five individuals has returned to the battlefield and none of the five have left Qatar," the official said. "Since their transfer many actions have been taken to restrict the actions of these individuals, and they are all being closely monitored by the United States and Qatar.
"We are in frequent and high level contact with Qatari government about the implementation of these measures, to ensure our concerns about these individuals are being met. For example, by enabling us to closely track their activities."
The Office of the Director of National Intelligence also uses a strict definition for re-engagement, saying they do not "consider mere communication with individuals or organizations -- including other former GTMO detainees -- an indicator of reengagement. Rather, the motives, intentions, and purposes of each communication are taken into account when assessing whether the individual has reengaged."
Separately, a military intelligence source told Fox News that "multiple options" were on the table in the Bergdahl case that did not involve the swap of the Taliban Five -- but the administration's preferred option was to secure the Army sergeant's freedom through the controversial transfer.
Fox News is told that the options included a so-called snatch-and-grab rescue mission, using and paying a contractor to find and rescue him, as well as working through the Pakistani intelligence service also known as the ISI. The account was backed up by a separate government source. The House Armed Services Committee, which is investigating the swap, declined to comment.
The military intelligence source also characterized the data provided by Bergdahl's debriefings -- which included intelligence about his route from Afghanistan into Pakistan as well as information about his captors -- as "dated, historical" and "worthless." The substance of the Bergdahl briefings was not disputed by the defense official.
Neither the CIA, Pentagon nor National Security Council press offices offered on-the-record comment about the Bergdahl case. Fox News is told Qatar has cracked down on the men's communications since it was first reported that one of them was trying to reach out. A defense official said any effort by the men to reconnect is "of interest to the U.S.," and provides greater visibility into the remaining terror networks.
In a March report on Guantanamo detainees who have returned to the fight, the Taliban Five detainee first suspected of attempting to re-engage was not listed in the "suspected" category. Only one of the intelligence agencies reportedly disagreed with that assessment.

I'm perfectly happy by the way. You seem to be getting in a tizzy every time the names Obama or Clinton are mentioned. It's almost like you have been conditioned to react that way.

As of December 31, 2013 there 1,369,532 people were on active duty in the armed forces, with an additional 850,880 people in the seven reserve components.

So 2300 out of a little over 2 million people serving is what? Less than 10 percent of the armed forces?

Don't get mad at me when the very rules you flaunt in front of people who might not know them intimately gets tossed back in your face.

without even adding I can tell you 2300 is way less than 10% of 2 million. LOL

Sorry I have not messed with you in a while
