Husband's social security card arrived in the mail yesterday! Unfortunately, the last letter of his middle name is missing so we'll have to fix that. But hey, that was remarkably fast.

That's awesome!! Glad you are enjoying being back home. That IS fast… I hope it is that fast for me too. I try not to worry about the POE, but hopefully all will go well. I am finally done work - today was my last day, it's so crazy. All of a sudden time doubled its speed!

Hugs to you both and your puppy!!

And Sammyann - I will be here until you get your approved!

Thanks two chicks it is but I have people like you all on here and I feel hopeful

Hey! Sorry this has taken me so long to respond...I have been celebrating your approval for you but I didn't get a chance to post!! I know how you're feeling...it was hard not knowing when the visa would come. Just remember that it WILL come. I am sending you lots of good thoughts!!

They said you were approved so you were, it's just a matter of hopefully only a few days! Big hugs.

Aww, nooo, I hope it goes as smoothly!! I have NO CLUE how/why he got it so fast. I guess since we checked the box saying yes we want them to produce the SSN on the DS-260, they actually did it. I read there is a small chance you'll actually get it in the mail from that, but most likely people go to the local office and ask to get it made. I thought we'd be doing that for sure, didn't expect one at all. I'll cross my fingers for you guys too.

Mag, that's gotta be surreal you're done with work. Enjoy a little breather if you can!!

OH FFS!!!!

http://www.travel.state.gov/content/travel/english/news/technological-systems-issue.html

Visas

  • A hardware failure on June 9 halted the flow of biometric clearance requests from posts to the Consular Consolidated Database (CCD). Individuals who submitted online applications or were interviewed for visas on or after June 9 may experience a delay in the processing.
  • The systems in place to perform required national security checks before we issue visas are experiencing technical difficulties. As a result, we are unable to print visas, regular passports overseas, and other travel documents.
  • We cannot bypass the legal requirements necessary to screen visa applicants before we issue visas for travel.
  • As a result, there is a backlog of visas waiting to be processed. We are working as quickly as possible to resolve the issue and to clear the backlog.
  • The technical issues we are experiencing have disrupted or prevented some of the Department’s primary data-share partners from accessing visa records.

Oh dear god I hope they fix this bloody issue quickly!!!!!

We're getting settled. Most of my time has been spent on home improvement projects. I'm not getting serious about job hunting until I qualify for a driver's license as transit is only so-so here. Cat and dog are mostly getting along well--we had an isolated chasing incident earlier and the cat is having a hissy fit and acting like a martyr over it, but the dog has shown no signs of wanting to chase him since, sooooo...

My SSN came with an issued date of just two days after my POE, so that seems to actually be working pretty well right now!

Met in 2010 on a forum for a mutual interest. Became friends.
2011: Realized we needed to evaluate our status as friends when we realized we were talking about raising children together.

2011/2012: Decided we were a couple sometime in, but no possibility of being together due to being same sex couple.

June 26, 2013: DOMA overturned. American married couples ALL have the same federal rights at last! We can be a family!

June-September, 2013: Discussion about being together begins.

November 13, 2013: Meet in person to see if this could work. It's perfect. We plan to elope to Boston, MA.

March 13, 2014 Married!

November 18, 2014: NVC receives our case (22 days after NOA2)

December 17, 2014: NVC generates case number (50 days after NOA2)

December 19, 2014: Receive AOS bill, DS-261. Submit DS-261 (52 days after NOA2)

December 20, 2014: Pay AOS Fee

January 7, 2015: Receive, pay IV Fee

January 10, 2015: Complete DS-260

January 11, 2015: Send AOS package and Civil Documents
March 23, 2015: Case Complete at NVC. (70 days from when they received docs to CC)

Christina thamks for keeping in touch

Anyone I forgot thank you

I saw my status updated yesterday but still says ready also they have updated the newsroom notification saying that they don't expect this problem will be fixed before next week, so I guess I have to wait another week

Posted

I'm really happy to see my VJ friends doing well :)

Still keeping my fingers crossed that this is fixed soon Sammyann!!

Kids and I had our medical yesterday - doc was nice and efficient, but his office staff turned the whole experience into a NIGHTMARE!!!

The one lady claimed that she called and got a wrong number so cancelled our appointments!! ((After I just drove through pouring rain from Windsor :P )) After a lot more waiting (I was fuming) we finally saw Dr Lee about 11:15~ish and were out of the office just before noon. My girls were incredible, given how long we were waiting and how long of a day it already had been!!

But it's all done now :P Thank goodness!!
