But dont we need to declare $ amount it at POE?

My understanding is that you need to declare the cash you have on you, not what you've got in your bank accounts. I am not sure, so I would consider posting a separate topic for it. My understanding of the reading is that you can carry up to 10 000 cash on you to cross the border but there is no limit on the amount of money you can have.

Met in 2010 on a forum for a mutual interest. Became friends.
2011: Realized we needed to evaluate our status as friends when we realized we were talking about raising children together.

2011/2012: Decided we were a couple sometime in, but no possibility of being together due to being same sex couple.

June 26, 2013: DOMA overturned. American married couples ALL have the same federal rights at last! We can be a family!

June-September, 2013: Discussion about being together begins.

November 13, 2013: Meet in person to see if this could work. It's perfect. We plan to elope to Boston, MA.

March 13, 2014 Married!

May 9, 2014: Petition mailed to USCIS

May 12, 2014: NOA1.
October 27, 2014: NOA2. (5 months, 2 weeks, 1 day after NOA1)
October 31, 2014: USCIS ships file to NVC (five days after NOA2) Happy Halloween for us!

November 18, 2014: NVC receives our case (22 days after NOA2)

December 17, 2014: NVC generates case number (50 days after NOA2)

December 19, 2014: Receive AOS bill, DS-261. Submit DS-261 (52 days after NOA2)

December 20, 2014: Pay AOS Fee

January 7, 2015: Receive, pay IV Fee

January 10, 2015: Complete DS-260

January 11, 2015: Send AOS package and Civil Documents
March 23, 2015: Case Complete at NVC. (70 days from when they received docs to CC)

May 6, 2015: Interview at Montréal APPROVED!

May 11, 2015: Visa in hand! One year less one day from NOA1.

Yeah. I mean if we dont declare it at POE then wont they tax you when you transfer across the border afterwards?

05/21/2013: NOA1 Priority Date

05/24/2013: Cheque Cashed and received text with MSC number (Initial Review)

06/03/2013: Received Hardcopy NOA1

12/12/2013: Transferred to another office

12/13/2013: Transferred to local office

01/16/2014: NOA2 EMail Notice

01/29/2014: Transferred to NVC

03/16/2014: Notice from NVC

12/16/2014: Paid AOS Fee and submitted DS-261

01/05/2015: Called NVC and DS-261 was incomplete, gave information and wait for IV bill to be generated

01/06/2015: Paid IV Fee

01/16/2015: Submit DS-260 and emailed documents for both AOS and IV

02/18/2015: 2 False checklists received

02/20/2015: Received Confirmation/60 DAY EMAIL

03/14/2015: Received approval letter from NVC (dated Mar 10) regarding "Request for Earlier Priority Date".. which we never did such a thing

03/27/2015: Day 70 - 6.30-7.30 PM EST .... infamous 3n/as appeared!!!!!! CC confirmed by rep at 9:20 PM EST!!

04/22/2015: Received interview letter (email)

04/25/2015: In transit

04/30/2015: Medical

05/14/2015: Interview..APPROVED... ceac said ISSUED!!

05/21/2015: Visa in hand

07/23/2015: POE at YYZ

08/31/2015: Applied for SSN at local office

Yeah just did. It's a concern for us. Kinda like if people sell their house after and take the amount into US after POE.

Awesome. I'm not likely to have much money--I seriously do not have that much--other than my EI, which counts as foreign income for tax stuff, as I understand it. Soooo Yeah. We're pretty poor. I'm married to a grad student and I'm a 28 year old that restarted my whole life just a couple of years ago. I was actually homeless a few months before we married. So the only thing I know about is my EI, which is important.

I literally switched to RBC to be able to do this. I was with PC Financial, but I needed the cross-border banking option and only a handful of banks have that. RBC has it. TD has it. I don't know about anyone else. I had a tonne of bad experiences with TD, personally, due to having some unusual financial circumstances (and an ex whose mother worked for the higher levels of the bank and who I know likes to watch her childrens' exes finances all smug-like and I didn't want her to see mine), so I figured I'd give RBC a chance. So far they haven't let me down.

haha I don't blame you at all!! I have been with RBC before and I never had a problem. They were great! I did a little online checking around and Scotiabank does have a US savings account. I'm not completely sure how it works though so I will talk it over with someone at the bank. I really appreciate the information!!

Ahhhhh a fellow Canadian getting case complete in 21 days...filing almost a whole month after me??? And now I'm freaking out because my interview isn't going to be until like August with the number of approvals they are giving out. I'm seriously deflated today...this is plain unfair!! Rant over :(

I haven't been in this thread nor am I versed in what's being discussed but I am aware that: any moneys in the amount higher than 9,999.99 (USD or Canadian dollar) has to be declared because of international money laundering laws. The same rule applies if you withdraw or make a deposit 10k or more.

The more you know!!

In other news, a January 19 EP filer got their CC today! So it is looking like 70ish days is our benchmark!

It's been 85 days for me. I'm so sick to my stomach don't know if my case is ever going to be reviewd.

LOL I wish I'm so tired of this.. I called them last week and the representative was very nice she apologized for it taking so long, and she explained it that EP was down because their system was down. So she said she is going to put a note on both of my cases for a supervisor to review it, she also said it will take a week or two and that I can call back for an update. It's been a week I keep checking online nothing yet. I so want to call them but I'm sick of them giving me the same answer every time. Has anybody gotten CC on here??
