You're going to have such fun! I HIGHLY recommend the Botanical Gardens. The greenhouse is AMAZING. And there were SOME plants when I was there, but there will be so many more even now, you could see them budding.

Met in 2010 on a forum for a mutual interest. Became friends.

We made it!!! After taking a much needed nap, we walked around for a few hours. Checked out the consulate, Medisys, and ate some delicious vegetarian poutine and burgers at Comptoir 21.

Seeing the consulate was such a weird experience. Being here at all is so bizarre. It's like up until this point the process has been all online or some papers in the mail. Actually being in Montreal, seeing this looming building and knowing so many people have done this before us makes it so much more real. Weird.

I think we're gonna hang out at the pool for a while and I'm going to watch the last episode of Married at First Sight tonight because luckily that channel is not in French and it's so nice to just stop worrying about things. I watch bad TV, I know. ;)

I'll let you ladies know how the medical goes tomorrow! The guy at the front desk seemed very used to people asking where Medisys was in the building, hahaha.

Yay! Sounds like a good day!! Have a good and easy medical!

CG123, I wish they had told my husband his result! It seems like you're totally fine though, I wouldn't worry too much. :)

Thank you everyone for being so sweet. We went to Medisys this morning...not what I expected. Most of the time was spent in the huge waiting room. Called back for vaccine record, vision test, and blood drawn (which I was allowed to go in for), then waiting room, called back for xray, then waiting room, called back for examination part, then waiting room. Then paid and we could finally leave.

No one was exactly friendly, but they weren't rude either. They just very obviously did their jobs everyday and were quick and efficient. My husband said the doctor was very nice.

Told us the results would be ready Tuesday after 1pm.

The ONLY scary thing is that the doctor asked my husband if he had seen anyone for psychiatric issues and he told her he's been going to counseling for the past year since his mom died. She asked if it was for depression and he said just because of his mom. She asked if he had anxiety and he jokingly said he was anxious at the moment, then she asked if he'd ever been hospitalized for anything mental health related and he told her how once he called a number looking to set something up with a counselor or something, to get help, and as a legality they told him to take himself to the hospital because they were afraid he'd hurt himself or someone else. So he went. And a psychiatrist saw him for maybe an hour and sent him home after realizing he wasn't going to harm anyone. The doctor today asked if they prescribed him anything and he said no. She asked if he took anything to help him sleep and he said melatonin occasionally. She asked if he was on any medication now and he said no.

There's nothing to worry about...right? She's not going to have marked him as inadmissable or anything? It's so annoying we won't be able to know the results. :(

Oh, also, you were SO RIGHT about the botanical gardens. Absolutely amazing, incredible, beautiful. So many cool things. We only got through the Chinese garden, Japanese garden, and First Nations garden. We are definitely going back. We also went to Cafe Chat L'Heureux at your suggestion as well and so, so glad we did. Messiest sandwich of my life, but some cute cats. One even followed me into the bathroom, back out again, and jumped on the table and drank some coffee creamer before I swiped it away. ;)

You'd be a good tour guide!

CG123, I wish they had told my husband his result! It seems like you're totally fine though, I wouldn't worry too much. :)

Was the doctor writing anything or doing anything on the computer while he was talking? Dr. Z showed me everything he was doing on the screen and what I noticed is that all of the boxes for the questions were checked as no and he only had to change things that were yeses for me (like the chronic illness, hospital admission because of it, meds for it etc.) I don't think any of that should make him inadmissible. I'm sure it will be fine!

Ok - SO. What a whirlwind today. So the short story (kind of):

Worked my 16 hour shift, which OF COURSE was really busy and started spilling over into 17 hours + so was stressed about making it to my flight at 5:30 a.m. Decided not to go to bed after all for a couple of hours because I was worried about not waking up on time. Dragged myself to the airport at 3:45 only to find out 3/4 of my plane were dedicated to a teenage school band sigh… to give the kids credit, they did stay fairly quiet on the flight, but man… I DID get some lucky wind, we arrived in TO 15 min early just to an email from Dr. M's office telling me their lab was closed at 12 today, so could I come in at 11 or 11:30. I MADE it for 11:30 after a VERY VERY expensive cab ride downtown. I didn't have much of a choice though.

To be fair to Dr. M's office - it was the quickest and easiest thing ever. And after these months of waiting, it was nice to have things quick and easy. Went to the lab across the street and didn't wait, got my blood taken right away. Dr. M saw me like 5 minutes later, and then I had my x-ray done, and that was it! I think I was out of there by 12:30 max. He checked off my list of vaccinations, chatted about my medical history and that was that. They promised me that they would have the results by noon on Thursday, as my train to Montreal is on Thursday afternoon, so I will keep my fingers crossed.

Mrs. thb - I DID smile and was very polite!!

After the medical I cabbed it to my friend's house, and just crashed until about an hour ago. I feel a bit zombie'ish still.

I REALLY THINK that you guys should not worry too much about specific questions on the medical. THEY really really have a few things they want to make sure you don't have or if you do, that it's addressed and treated. AND a good physician SHOULD ask you about mental health issues, dig deeper, in order to make sure they address it with you - it's a professionalism and liability thing, not something that means you will not "pass" your medical. As long as you have your vaccines, you are dealing with TB if you DO have it;) and the same goes for syphilis which is the ONLY thing they take that blood for (I looked), you will be ok. And a good physician, will ask you additional questions in case they can do something for you. Plus they have boxes to tick off. But it does not mean you "failed."

Ok? Good. on to the interview people!!! Can't believe all three of us are DONE this one finally!! Wooohooo.

Oh and it doesn't mean anything except that you have chronic disease. which you know. which doesn't make you ineligible to get to the U.S. - last time I checked lots of Americans had chronic diseases too.

And no, I wasn't told anything except that all was "fine." I will take that!:)

And also - when do you get into Montreal before our interviews?
