Well, I discovered my wife had sent me the unsigned version of our tax return, so it turned out to be to my benefit--she sent me the signed one and I replaced the signature page in our packet.

And the way I figure it, if I go for ten to six, I have a good ten or fifteen minutes to get lost since I won't have my phone to help me navigate!

Mmmm guys… NATs message prompted me to look at my husband's tax returns. So neither one of his tax returns is actually signed by him, 2013 or 2014. The one that was sent and approved by NVC doesn't have his signature… soooo do I make him sign the pages and email them to me?? How important is that? I also noticed that he filed married but separately but his W2 says single… sigh… not sure what that means or IF it means anything, and I can't do anything about it. But just thinking.

He tells me he doesn't sign the copies, and they are copies, not the actual ones he sent in via his accountant.

I don't know how important they are to be signed. I just know I wasn't talking chances. The man who took my documents did look at every page but I don't know if he was looking for the signature or just to make sure I hadn't missed a page.

If you wouldn't mind too much, what questions did they ask? I assume just the standard when did you meet, what does your wife do, etc. But like everyone else here, the more info the less anxiety on the big day hahaha

The document taker asked me for my address, my wife's address and both of our phone numbers, but he was really understanding and prompted me when I said 'oh god my wife's number? I push 'wife' in my contacts list on my phone. 'Wife' isn't a number, though...' He was super forgiving on that and laughed.

The interviewer asked me what my wife did, where she worked, where we were moving to, did we have any kids, had either of us ever been married before and where were we married. Then he asked if it was legal in the state of Texas, which threw me for a HUGE loop because no, it's not, and for a minute there he got VERY frowny and said he wasn't sure I was eligible, but then he figured out that yes, I was and then the computer crashed for a minute. Then he said 'and your wife makes XXXXX money per year on her taxes?' and that stumped me a bit, because the number wasn't what I remembered, and it must have shown on my face and he was looking frowny, but then I remembered that that's the money she GETS, and the rest is a 'tuition waiver' or something and I said 'yeah, that sounds right without her tuition stuff. She's a grad student and I always get confused when it comes to how her taxes work for part of her money, a tuition waiver thing, but that's what turbotax is for, right?' and he laughed and said yes, he's glad for turbotax too. Then he said I was approved. It took about 10 minutes, but his computer was acting up at the beginning and the fingerprint scanner was acting up and then his computer crashed, so the interview itself probably took only around five minutes.

They asked for originals and copies of my birth certificate, our marriage certificate and the bio page of my passport. Originals of the aos package. Photocopy of tax returns and my wife's pay stubs.

was the tax return 2014 or 2013....i can't remember this thread is getting way too long? but that's a good thing

also, did you update your I864 since its submission? can't remember that either.

hmmm… and here I am spending hours on pictures and emails. Hmmmm….

hence why i said I'm not putting much effort into that.....if the two of you have a long history then its not really worth it....but if you just met and got married then I;d say best to bring it along. i'm bringing a few additional pieces of recent evidence (boarding passes and flight itineraries, no pics though) along with the I 130 package we submitted and that's it (aside from docs submitted with the IV package and 2014 tax stuff).

for those of you worried about blue or black...and I'm not referring to the dress!!!

this is from sparkles mtl consulate review posted today.....don't fuss about blue or black.....they accepted 'blue'

ard gave me a re-entry pass (retained all my docs and passport) and told me to come back before 3pm. I raced back to my husband, had him sign and date the form (in BLUE) and then racked back to the consulate (round trip was less than 30 minutes). When i got back, i showed the guard at the doors my re-entry pass.

thx NAT, our's aren't done yet, he asked for an extension as I'm still doing mine.....argh!!!
