On Zatzman's website it says:

If you were born after 1956 you must show proof of immunization (2 shots) for Mumps, Measles and Rubella

The "2 shots" made me nervous when I first read it but then I convinced myself that it must just have been the second measles shot I got... I don't know what to do!! I guess I just get it and then I don't have to worry about it??

They changed the rules for kids getting the second shot when I was in third grade, at least in Ontario. That would have been 1995 or 1996, I think. All third graders began getting it at that point. So if you were born before 1987, you may not have got it.

And CanadianGirl - you should probably just get the vaccine. This is what they tell the docs who do these exams:

For example, if the applicant is 35 years of age, then he or she is required to receive tetanus and diphtheria toxoids vaccine (Td) or tetanus and diphtheria toxoids and acellular pertussis vaccine (Tdap), MMR, and varicella (if no history of varicella disease). If the applicant had previously received a dose or doses of a required vaccine but had not completed the series, then the next required dose should be administered according to standard ACIP recommendations.

Because completion of the vaccine series often requires several months, immigrant visa applicants arenot required to have received all doses of the ACIP-recommended vaccines prior to departure. Rather, they are required to have received at least one dose of each vaccine, and they are encouraged to receive as many additional doses as possible. The panel physician should stress the need for the applicants to complete the series after arrival in the United States.

One more thing - IF for any reason any of you reading this in posterity don't want to get a vaccination because you have had the disease or you think you had the vaccine but maybe it isn't documented, you can do what is call a "titer" - they look for antibodies against whatever disease. As per the CDC:

• Laboratory evidence of immunity is acceptable for measles, mumps, rubella, hepatitis A, hepatitis B, polio, and varicella.

A titer is laboratory evidence that you are immune or not.

Just in case anyone is searching on the VJ site.

Thank you for the information!!! I really appreciate you looking it up! I took tomorrow morning off so I'm going to cross my fingers and hope that the Doctor can see me (the one walk-in in the area opens from 9-12 and apparently if you don't get in line at 8:30 you won't be seen!).

Hehe...I won't ask how old you are!! It's funny though, I have this vision in my head of what some people on here look like...in my head you are about the same age as me

LOL. I am not THAT old. I will be 38 this June. BUT hearing about birthdays in late 80s makes me FEEL old. I have also been going through a bit of an age crisis lol.
