I'm taking a photo or two from each trip I've made down, plus my boarding passes, as well as evidence of our joint account (where occasionally I've sent money for household expenses) and evidence of a new phone u bought for my wife, a photo of the new stand mixer we treated ourselves to as an anniversary gift and cards from my grandmother that indicate her best wishes for us as a couple.

Ok, cool. So you are not taking crazy amounts of info either. Yeah, i think I will take some pics strategically showing us with our families, our trips, etc. Some of my boarding passes. I will print out paypal stubs where we've sent each other money for various things. A few anniversary etc cards, plus cards from family to both of us. I will also take my life insurance policy which goes to him. I might bring a few telephone bills showing us talking every day. But other than that, I really don't want to drag a million things. I suppose if they have a problem with it, they will let me know.

Thanks NAT!

I don't even have photos with our families, though I do have my life insurance (she's the beneficiary). My accordion folder already weighs a tonne, so if that's not good enough, then we'll send more after.

Montreal is supposed to be very easy as long as you were born in Canada or another developed nation. If you read the embassy reviews, they rarely even ask for more evidence.

Well, I was born in Poland, so who knows. But I've been here since elementary school, so way more time in Canada than in Poland. Hopefully they consider that a developed nation:)

You're probably okay. I think they scrutinize MENA people much more than European.

Old Montreal was very touristy, but nice. I got an apple cider ice wine type thing for the in-laws. VERY tasty. It's made with apples but tastes more like ice wine.

Then I went and checked the Consulate out. It's this weird door on the side of a building that the front face of the building looks more like a bank or financial broker of some kind.

IMG-1430598322224-V_zpsdhreetmm.jpg

That's the door. I walked past it three times looking for it!

thanks for posting the pic NAT...gotta ask how did you do it...i've been trying to send pics to another member but can't for the life of me figure it out, nor can they.

mag...ditto on the supports docs. when i went for my K1 in 2012 they didn't ask for evidence. And this time, i'm not bringing much. maybe a few pics, a few boarding passes and that's it....no phone bills, no evidence of co-mingling assets, etc. i'm canadian born and he's american born, after the 10 months of bologna at uscis and having to have to be interviewed just to get our NOA2 we figure they've done their homework and know we're good people. i'll be hauling a tonne of paper just like everyone else and that's enough. don't stress yourself out. everything's gonna be OK.

med results should arrive in 5 days....but somehow i suspect they'll be here on tuesday....just seeing how they skimmed over everything, i highly doubt they're fine tooth combing things.

so you won't believe this next story...i just got a imessage from my daughter who's been in southeast asia for 4 months now....she's in korea now and just woke up to share her adventures from yesterday....where she spent the afternoon at a cat cafe!!! how bizarre, i have never heard of such a thing until NAT mentioned it. how strange is that?...2 people, 2 cat cafes in 2 days. today she;s going to a puppy cafe....omg, too cute....

To upload a photo, first get an account at a photo sharing site like photobucket. Then take the 'direct url' from the list to the side of the uploaded photo. Then put that url in img tags.

[img]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v300/taineyah/IMG-1430598322224-V_zpsdhreetmm.jpg[/img]

will give you

And oooh, puppy cafe! I don't think North America has a puppy cafe yet!

(Sorry, messed up my tags--got url and img mixed up somehow!)

Mag, we are not taking too much evidence of relationship, and I assume they will be WAAAY more interested in my US domicile than our relationship. We're taking old phone records, emails, trip itineraries, photo pages, adoption contract with the SPCA for our pup with both our signatures on it, and possibly a wedding/reception book a friend made for us.

As for the puppy cafe, I found one(ish) in Montreal called Le Doggy Cafe! Not quite the same as the cat one as I don't think any dogs live there or can be adopted, I believe it is just doggy friendly and they offer lots of dog classes I think. So people just go there and hang out with their dogs.

I know where I'm going!!

LOL ok! You guys are hilarious, I am now planning on how to extend my Montreal jaunts to include all the cute cafes!:)

I will try not to stress. Now I am thinking if they will get onto my having been born in Poland, and scrutinize us more. Sigh - it sucks, I was born there but lived most of my life in Canada, grew up here, I actually speak English better than Polish! I don't know why any of this matters. Argh.

Thanks TwoChickies for listing the stuff you are taking. It helps.

I'm pretty sure you're fine, Mag. You've never lived in another country as an adult and you're English speaking and Poland has no 'terrorist' connections I can think of. Also, you're a lady and men are far more likely than ladies to be scrutinized.

Hey! So just wanted to share a little about what I learned a couple days ago just in case it helps someone else...though I'm sure you are all much more in the know about things then I am. On Friday I decided to call my public health unit to see if they had official records of my immunizations (I just have my yellow card and random papers from over the years). They actually do and while I was chatting with the nurse about it she informed me that I did everything correctly growing up in terms of getting vaccinations when they were required (great!). For example I had the first round of the MMR vaccine when I was a baby and then had gotten the second measles shot around 8 years old. That was what I was supposed to do...however....the rules changed within that past little while and people are now required to have a second full MMR shot instead of just the measles one. So now I am scrambling to find someone to give me the MMR shot before my medical next Wednesday (it would be easier if my family doc wasn't 3 hours away...or I lived somewhere that actually had medical clinics). I'm sure you all have probably looked into all this already but I thought just in case it could help someone I would let you know. I had no idea and have been sitting here for like 2 weeks thinking I had everything and was good to go! I would have been so upset to find out at my medical.

Heya!

Ok, so I only have one MMR but I have a mumps, measles, rubella titer (measurement of whether I am immune), but that's only because of work. The CDC only requires ONE MMR for immigration, although you should have two in general to be immune, and immigration goes by the ONE MMR shot. That's what I found out when I was researching this.

So maybe just call Dr. Zatzman tomorrow and make sure that's how they roll before spending money on this, or I guess you could just have the vaccine. But I would call his office and double check first. I am not getting a second MMR, but again, I have the titers.

On Zatzman's website it says:

If you were born after 1956 you must show proof of immunization (2 shots) for Mumps, Measles and Rubella

The "2 shots" made me nervous when I first read it but then I convinced myself that it must just have been the second measles shot I got... I don't know what to do!! I guess I just get it and then I don't have to worry about it??

Yeah, the MMR shot is actually a two shot series in North America - wonder why you only ended up with one? In Poland, where I was born, the only did the MR, so I didn't have MMR until I got here to Canada as a kid. The MR is not a good enough replacement, so that's why they checked titers on me at work.

You know what, why don't you just get the shot instead of worrying about it? It's probably easier and will ease your mind, as much of an inconvenience as it might be.

P.S. it's actually the measles they really worry about, and you had two of those!!! Why not just call Dr. Zatzman and tell them what you had. I am pretty sure other people must have only had one MMR + measles.
