Yeah, they really don't make the consular instructions super clear or easy to find, lol.

Also, make SURE you have your spouse/partner/joint sponsor's 1040 and w2 for 2014. I got an email YESTERDAY asking for it, while I was at work, and panicked--not realizing that yes, I had that already--because I'm leaving TODAY.

That's right, today after work, I get on the megabus to Montréal and tonight, close to midnight, I check into my hostel. Tomorrow's the medical with Medisys.

Only thing I'm still fretting over is, even though Medisys takes debit and credit as well as cash, do you think I should take cash? Seems like it would be just my luck for their debit machines to be down at my appointment....

Let us know how they go please, and good luck! You're gonna do great :dancing::thumbs:

LOL yeah we were very fortunate with the timing. Although after getting the I-130 approved in 18 days it really sucked waiting so long to get to the NVC, waiting for IV invoice, etc...but at least it's all behind us now, we are excited to get to the interview once it's scheduled and thanks :)

so far, I've only seen my hostel, but I highly recommend it if a hotel seems too steep. 20 a night, five minute walk from Sherbrooke metro station. Six person dorm rooms that are a decent size with nice, clean linens (they hand them to you when you come in, freshly washed). You have to bring your own towel, but for 20 a night? Not too bad! They have free breakfast in mornings and WiFi. Auberge Jeunesse Gîte du Plateau Mont-Royal is the name. They have female only dorms for the same price as mixed and lockers (bring a lock) for any valuables.

Finished my medical. All told, it took about an hour to an hour and a half. Everyone there spoke very fluent English as well as French. The doctor glanced at my psych assessment and then checked off that I had never had any issues at all! That made me happy. They accepted my doctor's email saying I had had my tetanus booster without any signature. Total was 317.

First I saw a male doctor who took me through a questionnaire, made me walk on my tip toes and heels and move my arms and legs and he checked my pulse and blood pressure and eyes and poked and prodded me and stuff. Then I went back to the waiting room and was called for x-rays. Back to the waiting room, then called for checking my vision and having blood drawn, then back to the waiting room to wait to pay.

Spent most of the day just walking the streets of Montreal.

That's fantastic about the assessment and records!! I'm so happy it went smoothly for you. After all the hiccups you and your wife have had in this process I'm really hoping that your time in Montreal is just a piece of cake.

Thank you for letting us know! It reassures me that my husband's will be just as easy.

Do you have anything fun planned while you're in Montreal?

Well, I walked about 15 or 20 km today. Basically the whole time I wasn't at the medical, from 9 am until around 6 pm, I was walking. Montreal is beautiful. I'm thinking of going to the Redpath museum tomorrow and I'll probably go check out other parts of Montreal. My hostel is about a half hour walk to Medisys and about a 20 minute walk to the consulate.

I am glad everything worked out great for you! I just found out today that the gym (Good life) in which I have a membership isn't in Quebec  , thus to make up for my "gym time", I intend doing alot of walking. Do you mind commenting on the weather? Do you feel coming along with a jacket maybe be handy?

Finished my medical. All told, it took about an hour to an hour and a half. Everyone there spoke very fluent English as well as French.

The weather today was beautiful. I started my day with a zippered hooded sweater and a lightweight wool 'military shirt' (which is a very lightweight wool jacket) and ended up tucking the military shirt away in my backpack by about 10 am. At some points I was fine in my jeans and t-shirt, in the sun, but then it went overcast and I needed my sweater again. I'd say a lightweight jacket would be a really good idea, something you can pack away or take out, and a sweater and you're good.

Timeline

A psych assessment is needed? I don't see that listed anywhere...just curious
