It may have to do with the fact that May was pretty much booked up to the end in the last round so they are waiting until it gets closer to June to book since they have people from other countries with embassies who have spots in like 2 weeks. So obviously it is more of a priority to get their interviews booked. I really hope they do get to us though sooner rather than later. I'd much prefer to have a month or even two notice than find out my interview is in 2 weeks. I pretty much know at this point that I can't have my interview in June and will have to move it to July I guess because I'm traveling to my husband for one thing or another every weekend in June and will need my passport for that! But I need some notice in order to be able to switch it. It sucks to get this far and know I have to postpone the end but life happens. I think waiting for my CC and watching people with scan dates way after mine get done before me really prepared me for this wait. I'm much more calm this time haha :) I'm sending out good vibes to everyone and hoping that we hear something today still!

I'm pretty sure we're just SOL for this round and we'll have to wait for next round. I was really, really hoping to move in June but it's seeming increasingly unlikely--even if we DO get an expedite. I don't want to be moving to Texas heat in July. I went down for late June/early July last summer and we did a big road trip up to Georgia to meet her family and ugh, the heat was just about killing me. Ah well, I'll be so glad to be going home, I'm sure it won't be so bad.

we got an email from NVC that they received out docs and it will take 60 days for review....I dont get this why do they respond faster to mailed documents vs email? I would think email is better, but hey its goverment...

I think that's a standard letter that everyone gets - the processing times for both post and EP have increased in the last month so you might be pleasantly surprised!

^ that acknowledgement email/letter can take NVC up to 30 days to send you, but the the good news is, this doesn't affect the "received on" date. The clock starts ticking on the date which you email the package to NVC.

In the past 2 months, there have been many cases where people who have submitted their docs, have got their case complete in less than 30 days. Hopefully the NVC continues with this turnaround rate.

ahhh...that wasn't the good news I was hoping for, but you're right it does sound like a glimmer of hope!

I know it will happen soon!!!! Life's gotten busy but I am right here waiting along with you all. And Not a Tailor, I likewise hope all will be well with your partner.

It's like all our files are in one pile! I've stopped calling the NVC because I don't want to get any more wrong information. It's become tiresome and it's useless, changes nothing.

Good to know you're still here too!! I also have decided to quit calling and will just wait for my email because as you said, it changes nothing! If we don't hear anything by early May I will try going the congressman route but I think that we will all get our interviews in the next round! We are well prepared for this unfair wait game being seasoned NVC'ers! Haha. Hang in there, the finish line is in site!

The question is less if there are enough of us and more if they have enough slots for all of us. They didn't approve any Canadians for weeks and weeks, so now they've got those of us who were stuck due to EP AND the people getting approved on time now to deal with. I sense a long delay for many of us--by the time I actually interview, it will likely be at least ten weeks from CC, if not longer. Hang in there.

Hey there, I know it's tough to be positive, but I choose to believe that this will go faster than you think. I have a LOT riding on getting an interview before July, and although I know it's less likely now, I refuse to be negative. Being negative/realistic did nothing for me, so positive thinking it is!!:) I know you've been waiting longer than me, so I do hope that your interview gets scheduled very soon!!

We have NO clue how this works with the NVC, despite patterns. Their patterns change with the wind. I think there is still a chance this will turn out better than you think.

It's not so much about patterns as math. The commonly bandied about one is that 1% of visa seekers for family based visas are on VJ and share their stats. Let's assume that's true, though my belief is that it is very, very low. Now, there are about 12 of us waiting for an interview since March 23rd. That's about 1200 people, minimum, and the number climbs every day. It's been three weeks, so we'll say that 400 people will be added each week that we wait for interview scheduling. This means that the minimum number of people waiting for June interviews to become available as of the first week of May will be 2000.

Montreal doesn't have interviews for immigrant visas on every single day. They're closed weekends. Assuming a 30 day month, that's 22 days that are POSSIBLE for interviews. In May, for example, they'll be closed for Memorial day and the 2-4. June, they'll be closed for St-Jean-Baptiste day. July they'll be closed for Canada Day. May is full, so that takes us down to a maximum of 21 days per month for interviews in June and fortunately Independence Day is on a Saturday and July has 31 days, taking us to a max of 22 days for it. Let's assume there are only four additional days that are options each month where they do NOT have interview dates available to us and do professional development or only interviews for other visa types. (I think this is low, given how bureaucracy works, but we'll go with it as an arbitrary choice--one day per week that they do not schedule for) That puts us at 17 days available for June and 18 days for July.

They'll schedule for June, first. This means that, counting ONLY family-based immigration interviews, they will have to clear a MINIMUM of 117-118 petitions per day they have available in order to just clear the current backlog. I don't know about you, but I don't feel that lucky, given that it's not just family-based immigration interviews that happen. They've created a backlog and Canadians who get approved over the next little while will feel that.
