Honestly, I can't do this anymore. I just can't -I don't have the strength. I need to do something else like drop the case and move to another country where there is adequate medical care.

Jess, it pains me so much to hear this. A little more than a year ago, Harel had gone through some health issues, and not knowing what was going on and not being with him was one of the scariest things I've been through. Health on top of all these unfair immigration delays, it would be a tremendous burden on anybody.

I'm reading a book called the Upside of Stress by Kelly McGonigal, and it's been changing my life by helping me change the way I view stress--in many cases, it can help us find inner strength, forge stronger connections with others, and become more resilient to future stress. I highly recommend the reading if you need something to occupy your time.

As others have said, though, your health is the most important thing. Take care of yourself, and let your fiance knows the ways he can support you even while you're in different countries--it'll make him feel better, and you'll have the support you need, helping you to feel better. And if nothing else, remember that we're here for you, too--and we've all either gone through the waiting game, or we're still waiting on something. You'll make it through this, I know we all will.

04/16/2014: When Darren Met Harel (in person for the first time)

08/14/2014: The Proposal (but in Mexico, not Alaska)

02/27/2015: Flight of the Application

03/03/2015: Reception (Christopher NOA1an's latest masterpiece)

09/25/2015: 205 Days Later (NOA2)

05/11/20116: Engagement ended for familial reasons

Yes, you get a referral number with a service request. You should be able to see the status of your service requests when you log into myUSCIS (not just putting in your case number on the USCIS site). It tells you when it was assigned to an officer, what action they took and when the service request was completed.

Keep fighting, girlfriend! Get your medical stuff taken care of as soon as possible! We don't want anything to happen to you! We don't want you celebrating your NOA2 in a sick bed or in a doctor's office! This immigration stuff will move, it will. Your health is the most important part right now, but I can't imagine how this stress must be weighing on you. It is probably aggravating your condition. You will make it! You will make it! I really, really hate seeing how this is dragging on for you. #######?

ok here is what the USCIS page says about my service request

As of January 14, 2016, your inquiry about why your case is taking longer than our processing time, referral number T1D0141604949TSC, is currently not assigned for processing.

What is the point of giving me a number and asking me to wait another 30 days? This is the 3rd 30 days I've been told to wait.

Any other service requests prior to that? From what I know is that they last three letters indicate who has responsibility of the case. When I did an address change on the K-1 petition, my request number ended with CSC and yours here ends with TSC. So the TSC has not assigned this service request for processing. Again, they fail.

The service request I put in yesterday was the Dallas field office, so that would explain why mine was attended to so quickly. It's really frustrating because, sure, the service request is only 8 days old, but they still haven't even assigned it to anyone, no one has touched it and no one is looking at how long you have waited!

But I still encourage you to endure. Your wait should be ending soon. Don't plan to immigrate to another country unless it's better for both of you - not because of this process. I would ignore the "30 days" spiel and hound them next week or the first week of February if the case hasn't been assigned by then. Your 30 days is up February 13th, which is a Saturday and they are supposed to RESOLVE your issue within 30 days. I was told 15-30 days, so your 15 days from your service request is January 29th, which is a Friday. They really, really should have the case assigned by then. Hopefully your lawyer doesn't charge you to call and challenge the lack of attention to a service request!

You are an example of how the USCIS "processing time frames" are not accurate and a lie. Their "oldest case" is after your NOA1 date!

Thanks everyone for the words of encouragement.

Amhara: yours here ends with TSC. So the TSC has not assigned this service request for processing. Again, they fail.

I agree!! Just today it was assigned to someone (that took 13 days). And for the love of God it's someone in f'ing Texas! How is that going to help? ARE THEY REALLY SUPPOSED TO RESOLVE THE CASE IN 30 DAYS? This is at least the 4th time we've been told to wait 30 or 60 days more.

Yes the stress of this and being in another country is making everything worse. (no meds here, no doctors with experience in tick borne stuff, etc) I feel like #######-sleeping a lot-and wishing i had more energy to fight this.

I'm reading a book called the Upside of Stress by Kelly McGonigal, and it's been changing my life by helping me change the way I view stress-

Thanks for this suggestion-I will see if that can be downloaded here in Mex.

We have inquired so many times and are told the same thing-wait 30 days. But anyway thanks to everyone.-I don't know what I'd do without this website. for sure I would have lost my mind already.

Good luck to everyone who is also waiting in this hell hole they call TSC

Well after a few months I got this response today by email:

Type of service requested:
-- Outside Normal Processing Times

The status of this service request is:

You or your representative contacted USCIS concerning your Form I129F, Petition for Alien Fiance(e), to notify us that you believe your case is outside of our normal processing time. Below is a summary of what we found and how the issue has been or may be resolved.

We have placed your case on a processing hold because the required security checks remain pending. Until we receive the results of these security checks, we cannot move forward on your case. We require the results of security checks before we make a decision on any pending case.

We cannot predict when we will receive the results of these security checks. Please be assured that we will make every effort to make a decision in your case as soon as the security checks are complete.

We hope this information is helpful to you.

I have to guess that the check on my fiance' is the hold-up-since a check on me would be very straight forward. But I still can't image what is taking an extra 5 months.

Does anyone have experience with this OR information about this? I have already done some reading on VJ-which basically says USCIS checks the background of both of us (as they should). I'm not sure how many more months are needed to do background checks.....but I'm praying to God it's not another 10 months. By then I will be too sick to continue the process

I think there are relatively few checks that they can do on your fiance at this stage, unless he has entered the US before or had any other dealings with DHS. The checks are probably mostly on you. He will also have background checks done at the USEM stage with Department of State. I think my guy had his checks mostly at the embassy during AP as our I-129F went faster. At the USEM stage, they can search his biometric data, such as fingerprints and retina scans where as at the USCIS stage, the DHS doesn't have that data unless your fiance entered the US previously.

I just hope this is a positive sign for you! I hope that this actually means that someone FINALLY touched your file, started working on it, and after your checks come back, your approval will be texted to you! Gosh, jess, I really, really hope this means the next step for you is close!

(There are many CSC people that have gotten through this step in a matter of days. It doesn't sound like there is any reason why your background check should take longer than those at CSC.)

Thanks Amhara,

Yes he was in the US and we of course put that on the application papers. Obviously they would need to follow up on that. (but how can it take so f'ing long?) I know CSC does this in a matter of days! Even some other March filers from TSC were done in 5 months.

I can't think of any reason why my background check would take so long......

Is USEM the Embassy stage? It seems that doing checks at that stage would make the interview process very very long-like months.

I hope too that this is a sign we are almost done.

Yes, the USEM is short for US Embassy. Most places, I believe, use police certificates of the foreign beneficiary to start their background check. It's up the the interviewing officer to decide if they need more extensive background searches. Most don't need them. I don't think your background checks started until today. I'm guessing this is the first time they touched it and they just initiated the background checks today. If that's the case, then when they come back, you should get NOA2. That's my theory anyways. I want to stay positive for you! (F)

Case Was Approved

On February 1, 2016, we approved your Form I-129F, Petition for Fiance(E), Receipt Number SRCxxxxx

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

We FINALLY got an approved NOA 2 just short of one year after I sent it in mid Feb 2015. Thanks so, so much to all of you for your support through this insanity- (my rantings, threats to set myself on fire, etc.) Now we can AT LEAST make some kind of plan for the next few months, (where to live, how to get medicines, etc.) and hope the visa is approved at the interview.

I'm quite sure the inquiry from Sen. Gillibrand's office was the catalyst- and I'm also pretty sure USCIS was not really doing security checks......I think that was the one reason they could give for such a delay that could not really be argued with.

Thanks again to everyone on here. If anyone is still waiting for the NOA 2 my belief (at this point) is to contact your Senator's office and keep in touch with them. Nothing else seemed to do any good at all.

Congratulations, Jess! Super duper great news!!!!! Congratulations and congratulations again! Hopefully you will be able to get your NVC number quickly. Your USCIS case status may change when it's transferred to NVC, which is the Department of State. Mine took about three weeks from NOA2 to NVC. Try calling on a Thursday or Friday for your case number after you know it's been transferred. The good thing is that NVC only takes about a week to get it to your embassy! I am very happy for you two!!
