This is just awful, jess! What happened when you reached out to your other Congressperson? Are you just emailing them, or are you filling out their online release form, signing it and sending it back to them?

Hi Amhara

thanks for your words. It really sucks. And if I can whine a little more I'm also pretty sick (tick borne diseases) and flying back and forth to Mexico is about killing me. Every time I do so I suspend medical care and things get worse. I'm between a rock and a hard place. I have to be here for the visa and I can't be here because I'm falling behind in the tick borne diseases and meds....

I have tried calling Sen Schumer's office about 5 times and can never get through to whoever is working on my case. They say he's not here, he will call you tomorrow which never happens. And now I'm in Mex so I suspended my phone service bc I can't use it here. I have also emailed them twice and no reply. They haven't emailed me at all.

I sent the release forms to Sen. Gillibrand's office on Tues or Weds and called today to ask if they needed anything more. A person actually answered the phone, took a look at my email and said they'd work on it, and verified my email address. This is further than I've gotten with Schumer in the 3 months since I requested help. I think I originally asked for their help in Sept.

Something interesting though about the TSC processing dates. About a week ago they claimed they were doing Feb 23. (in August they were working on Feb 20) This week it March 12. Since our NOA2 date is March 17 I hope they will process it soon.

Is the horse in your avatar yours?

Thanks again-my life is making a big sucking noise !!!

Yeah, it sounds like TSC is getting close to the end of their I-129F case load, but I was really thinking they would be complete with them by September!! I hope they will process the rest and yours soon too!! Those dates were for the end of October, so they really should be finished with all of them by now!!!!!

I really hate to hear the slow/non-response you are getting with your Senators! Did you try your Congressional Representatives too? But since you have this illness, please try for an expedite. If you have been seeing your doctor when you return, who can confirm that your condition worsens when you travel back to Mexico, get a letter to that effect. One of the expedite criteria is emergency situation, and an example can be illness. (http://www.uscis.gov/policymanual/HTML/PolicyManual-Volume1-PartA-Chapter12.html) From what I have read, expedite requests are handled pretty quickly, and all they can do is say 'no'.

No, not my horse - I just really like white and black shires! I guess I should put a couple's picture up there soon, huh?

Please keep trying because it's going to be worth it! Bring us good news! (F)

hello. this is a really long post about my experience thus far, forgive me for rambling. my hope is something inside this long ramble will be useful to at least one person!

i rarely post here but have been following this thread every day since March 17 when we filed. i'm sure this has been posted before in this thread but it might be a bit buried plus i'd like to give our personal experience in case anyone else happens to be dealing the the embassy in Japan or maybe there is bits and pieces that could apply to you.

we filed on 3/17/2015 and after getting approved for our NOA2 on 10/26/15, it was forwarded to the NVC. i waited a two weeks before calling the first time because that's what i had read in the past and i think what the NOA2 recommended as well. the first time i called on 11/9/15 i got a rude lady who said they didn't have it and i told her i'd call again tomorrow. i waited a couple days and called on 11/11/15 and they said it was received but not processed. i called again the following day and the man said it was in the system and they had to do a few more things and then it would be sent. he gave me two code numbers, one was what i could use to check my case progress online at CEAC site. it was processed and in transit on the 13th and arrived at the embassy on november 18. from this point we just waited until she received packet 3, which happened on 11/27/15 and immediately scheduled her interview. she began working on the paperwork she needed such as the DS-160, police reports, medical, etc.

on my end, i prepared the I-134 affidavit of support. this might be important to some of you if you are in a similar situation: my income for the last year was a bit lower than the poverty line required (literally a couple hundred dollars). i had however gotten a raise at my job, so i had my boss write a letter of employment (which is also good evidence to have) stating my raise and what i will be payed for this current year that we are in. i was still worried about the I-134 if the information i had was good enough, so i got a co-sponsor (my mom). her and my dad file jointly, but i only filled out a I-134 for her. she also started a new job recently and well above the poverty level, but the previous tax forms weren't showing it so i got her last 3 paystubs that prove her income. i also provided receipts of property taxes her and my father have paid on the house and the land they own to show proof of ownership and that if need be, an asset that could be liquidated. i included copies of her birth certificate, passport, life insurance forms, and of course her own I-134 that the co-sponsor MUST SIGN THEMSELVES.

i then sent everything on my end to my fiancee to have for interview which included but not limited to: a copy of the I-129F package originally sent, along with a copy of the check i paid with, the NOA1 copy, the NOA2 copy, the NVC confirmation copy (IMPORTANT!!!), me and my mom's I-134 packages with evidence such as bank statements (i highlighted all dates with deposits made as well as the amount), evidence of date the bank account was opened, present balance of bank account, and the amount deposited in the last year, a letter of employment that stated: date and nature of employment, salary paid, whether position is permanent or temporary, and i had my boss date and sign it. i included 3 skype chat logs, 1 facebook chat log, 18 pictures of us together and with family. on the back of the pictures i listed who was in the picture, the date it was taken, and where it was taken. i put these in a plastic bag and labeled the bag. i also included an updated version of a letter of intent. **just want to note that all paperwork that i have done up to this point i have scanned and/or saved it on my computer as a backup because we never know when something might happen so it is best to be prepared!

ok so if you stayed with me this long i can say that we had our interview yesterday 12/20/15 in the US, 12/21/15 in Japan. according to my fiancee they were only doing interviews on Mondays but i'm not 100% sure on that. the interview was at 9:15am so she woke up at 4:30am, took the train to Tokyo, and arrive at the embassy around 8:50. she said she went inside they checked her ID and what not and got a ticket number (#39). she was called up and handed an employee a few of the papers such as the ds-160 and i-134 and then went and sat in the waiting room. after waiting awhile they called her number again and she was fingerprinted and then went and sat back down. they called her number a third time and it was time for the interview. she said you could see the interviews taking place from the waiting room, and some interviewers seemed to be nicer than others, as well as some asked more questions that others. she said she walked into the interview room which was opened up kind of like a bank, with everyone standing facing their interviewers while they talked. she had a man interview her and the first thing he said was basically to swear-in and promise that everything on the papers we submitted was the truth.

he only asked her a couple questions: Where did we meet? which led to her talking about our first date and he asked where it was, and she told him we went out to dinner and had a drink. my fiancee was really nervous and stumbling over her words and we think the interviewer took notice of this because he asked her what is a popular beer in my hometown. she said this really made her relax and feel better. the second question he asked was What were my hobbies? to which she replied music and movies, and he in turn asked my favorite movie. the interviewer then said 'OK let's wrap this up then' and that she was approved and should have her visa mailed to her within a week. the interview process took less than 10 minutes with the entire process from entering the embassy til leaving took just over 2 hours.

we were very pleased and surprised with the experience of the embassy and interview. it was extremely nerve-wracking but it turned out to be fine which i am sure will be the situation with many of you. the only things i can say are it is definitely worth it to be prepared and even if you are unsure about something, just do it because it can't hurt. i sent my fiancee probably close to 100 pieces of paperwork plus all the photos and proof of evidence. in the end, the interviewer didn't ask for one shred of evidence, no letter of intent, nothing. whether he had already viewed those is unknown but in either case i can't recommend preparation enough. the stress and worrying and continuous scanning of papers and photos is definitely worth it.

i would also like to note a few things about the embassy in Tokyo. the first is that i put a lot of effort into organizing all the paperwork to send her into folders and labeling it all to take for the interview. however, only CLEAR FOLDERS are allowed inside the embassy, so she had to re-organize it all out of the blue folders i sent. the other thing was that when she got into the embassy, they told her she could leave and come back as long as it was before noon, which she ended up doing because her phone was dying and she had left her portable charger in the locker at the train station. i'm not sure if this is the case with all embassies and it's not that important but just something worth noting.

if you have any questions for me up to this point i would be glad to try and help you since i finally have experience with it. i have followed most of your journeys since the middle of March and would be glad to help if i can. thank you.

Hi Jess,

I assume you have checked with their office today. Any news?

Tell them that other people's Congresspersons have been more helpful and they should be ashamed.

Mine called a "Congressional liaison".

This thread has been fairly quiet lately! How's everyone? To those (or their fiances) who have arrived to the US, how's the move and adjustement going?

I had my interview last week and my visa was finally issued this morning! I'm hoping to have it in hand next week. As soon as I have it in hand we will book my fiancee's plane ticket: she will fly here and then we will drive back down together in my car (with my dog!) for the long 3-day drive to Florida. We plan on moving in early to mid-January. I've been lucky in escaping TSC relatively quickly but things have been slow on the consulate side of things. Can't wait to finally immigrate and move on to the next steps!

Merry Christmas to all those who celebrate it! I hope those of you who are still waiting will get some good news very soon, especially jess100 who has been waiting forever. I'm rooting for you guys, it's truly unfair that you have had to wait this long!

Happy Holidays!

Even though the holidays slow this process down a lot...

We were approved on Dec. 1st and got notice that it was shipped to Department of State (NVC) on Dec. 22nd.

Once we got the approval notice I held back for about two weeks before I called and got an appointment for the medical since I was told they had quite some waiting time in Stockholm.

Medical is booked for Jan. 13th and I'm just hoping we'll have the new case number before that so I don't have to cancel.
