Apr 06, 2007: biometrics appointment

(Oct 09, 2007: called USCIS: service request sent to TSC)

Jan 31, 2008: case transferred to VSC (last touch date changed from 04/07/07 to 02/01/08)

The Officer at our interview said "You'll want to go back to the SSA and request a new card. This one will not have the restriction on it and you'll never need another one." [Obviously, if you change your name, you'll need a new card.]

Yes. There is NO difference between a 2-year green card and a 10-year green card - you are a permanent redsident regardless of whether you have to remove conditions or not. I have a 2-year card as well, and yesterday I got my new SS card - without restrictions and with a married name :)

I went to SSA office last week and were told that they will only change your card if you need to change name etc. but they will not remove the annotation unless you are a US citizen.
