The need for this new thread is Funny and Sad! I guess if you don't laugh you cry. We just mailed off our EAD/AP renewal application.

One of the most frustrating things right now is that my husband is in graduate school and we thought he could finally be approved for in-state tuition fees (after one year of state residency which he has) but now they are telling him that because he is in "petition" stage with USICIS he can't even be eligible for in-state fees, forgetting about financial aid which we know requires a GC. Very aggravating for him to have gone through so many hoops and now be stuck like this and continually made to feel not valid yet!

The same situation! I've already lost two semesters, and the third is coming... and still no GC. They don't allow me to register for classes without GC or approval of GC.. Fingers crossed, I don't lose fall semester! Did your husband go to college as an international student now? Edited March 20, 2015 by saulit

Hey DaveSings, have you tried expediting your AOS for this very reason?

Thanks Derwood, yes we have already done service requests, expedite request and now ombudsman.

The expedite request came back saying it was serious but not serious enough or something like that. Financial hardship is one of the expedite criteria but For some reason they didn't think losing thousands of dollars was serious enough!

Congrats to of those who just received their GC after a long wait. For those who have received their GC, I were wondering what your initial GC start date is?

Is the start date the AOS filing date or the date of that the AOS got approved? Just wondering.... because if it would be the AOS filing date minus well preparing to apply in a few months for ROC.

Well seems like from what we have concluded if the return address on the envelope or the letter itself says from a field office, then your file is at that office. The last three from the SR does not mean a thing that's why I asked. So it sounds to me at least it moved from NBC. But how long now? Well..... that's the standard answer they give.

I don't think this is correct. Both of the mail responses to my service request came from the New York City field office, which is my local field office but definitely not where my case is.

Wow, that is terrible- I guess my husband is lucky in a way then. It such a Limbo state - he is not an international student, just considered out of state for tuition purposes even though he's been here now for over a year.

So, after reading and commenting on this forum for about six months, I finally decided to officially follow it today. And the amount of email updates are driving me bonkers.

Does everyone else just deal with the insane number of emails? Or am I just failing I find the setting to turn them off? I've tried fiddling with the notification settings but the emails just keep coming...

Maybe I should have followed a quieter thread first. Perhaps a thread for people receiving green cards...

I did 120 days from card expiration date which is august (dang forgot the date) Is this right? It came out to be april 17th....

If that is the case they blatantly lie in the SR response, the last one I got before being approved had the Dallas field office address on the envelope but the letter itself said it was still at the NBC, but then I was approved the week later so that made no sense, it must've been at Dallas..

Natonstan, I want to stick my tongue out, put my fingers to my ears and say nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, told you it was in Dalllas!!! Hahaha! Only wish I could tell everyone they will get their GC's shortly, but saying that the time is drawing nigh!
