June filer here... not too sure whether we should send an e-request, contact Ombudsman or just wait a bit more. The interview waiver letter did say to wait 6 months so technically we have until mid A

June filer too. I did 2 service request since January ,and submitted to Ombudsman yesterday. I don't know if any of these would help though.

I just got a call from an Unknown number. I expected it to be some sales call, but NO! It was the Cleveland USCIS Field Office.

They told me interview has been waived, and they are requesting the file from NBC today. It will take about 3 weeks to get the file then 30 days to make a decision. If they need anything more they will get in touch with me in writing.

Guess my Congressman's enquiries did pay off. It was an officer who called me. She said as long as all the background checks and everything has cleared I should get an answer within that time period.

I can't believe this great news. This happens just after USCIS tells me it could take 9 to 12 months more. Haha.

Why your AOS form is shown as I-148 instead of I -485? Aren't you a family based case ? How did you contact your congressman ?Through email or calls? Your good news made me want to try that too .Congrats :goofy:

Just read this online" I want to add one more thing. Don't start a case with the Congressman and Ombudsman at the same time. I think the Ombudsman does not like that and probably won’t allow you to do that. One or the other. If you have a multiple agency problem, contact the Congressman. They are usually more helpful. "

Got a letter from my Congressman, he got a reply from USCIS about my case. It says that I am being considered for a potential interview waiver and my case is at the NBC and when ready will go to a field office. The wait is nine to twelve months.

Does he mean nine to twelve months from my NOA1 or from now?

My SR is stuck at "On March 20, 2015, your inquiry about why your case is taking longer than our processing time, referral number XXXXXXXXXXXXX, was assigned to an officer for response.

Bet it is never going to be seen. I'm planning to wait to 20th April then file with Ombudsman. Or should I file on the 1st April which is 60 days after the case has been outside processing times for my local field office?

What did you send when you filed with the Ombudsman and has anyone apart from Natonstan gotten a reply from them?

I filed with Ombudsman yesterday ,so far i only got a confirmation email from them about my request . I attached 2 pictures ,one is receipt notice from USCIS. Another one is the waiver of interview letter .I don't really know what should be sent out with my request .

guess we skipped your post before . Do you mean you never got the help or response from Ombudsman ?Did you contact your congressman ?Did they help?

I filled out the Ombudsman form like you most likely did, I didn't attach any of my letters or anything such as the Waiver letter, I just filled it out and clicked submit, I got my responses last week, I initially submitted it back in January so there was a big wait inbetween, I did post my email responses in this thread, I'll post them again for you, give me one minute

The Ombudsman's Office has reviewed your submission and contacted U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) regarding your case.

Please be advised that in certain cases, it may take up to 60 days to receive a response to our inquiry. We will notify you when we receive information from USCIS.

If your circumstances have changed substantially, you may contact us at cisombudsman@hq.dhs.gov and reference your unique submission number 2XXXXX3.

Sincerely,

Office of the Citizenship and Immigration Services Ombudsman

My application was then approved

Then on the 17th at 12:58PM I received:

Dear Sir,

USCIS has indicated that it is actively reviewing the application or petition referenced in your inquiry and should issue a decision in this case within 30 days.

Please inform the Ombudsman at cisombudsman@HQ.DHS.GOV if you do not receive correspondence from USCIS within 45 days. Because USCIS has taken action, our office will be closing this matter.

Thank you for giving the Ombudsman’s Office the opportunity to assist you.

Then an hour later on the 17th at 1:36PM I got:

This message serves as an update to the email sent by the Ombudsman’s Office earlier today, March 17, 2015. USCIS has indicated that it recently issued a decision regarding the application or petition referenced in your request for assistance. If you do not receive the decision notice within 15 days, please contact USCIS at 1-800-375-5283.

Since USCIS has issued a decision, our office will be closing this inquiry.

Thank you for giving the Ombudsman’s Office the opportunity to assist you.

Thank you .So in your case Ombudsman did help some .Wish I would have done this in January too . Now I am facing a long wait for their response.

So I have just received an update from Ombudsman regarding my inquiry. Overall it took about 2 weeks for them to respond. And apparently Ombudsman has nothing to do with my approval

Dear Sir/Madam,

The Ombudsman’s Office has determined that USCIS recently issued a decision regarding the application or petition referenced in your request for assistance. Your I-485 was approved 3-20-2015. If you do not receive the decision notice within 15 days, please contact USCIS at 1-800-375-5283.

Since USCIS has issued a decision, our office will be closing this inquiry.

Thank you for giving the Ombudsman’s Office the opportunity to assist you.
