Makes me want to send a letter to our person who's adjudicating our file!! explain to them their job, then ask that they approve without the updated medical. what are the chances they would, do you think?:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

In our case, the medical is expired and my husband is already inpatient so we were not going to take a chance and there be a further delay.

Just to add to the sentiment of the rule change in June 2014 about the medical exam. Who decided that medical should be "expired" in one year? Is there any medical basis for that? The problem is that whatever USCIS does to immigrants seems to go unchecked. I haven't travelled outside the US so if I contracted any deadly disease since my medical overseas, I would be thanking the US for this. Luckily, we aren't having any epidemic outbreak. But this rule is negatively impacting many of our finance due to their slow processing time. How is this any difference than before they broke up the old INS into three parts? I am not a doctor... but this one year rule seems a bit draconian. It's written as if all cases must redo medical (but apparently, the officer can waive it, not sure what circumstances they would require in order to do that), when it should be the other way around... that on a case by case basis, if the officer sees evidence or needs for a redo, they can request for one.

Hi,

Can you please tell me more about the change to medical exams in 2014? I cant find anything :(

Sometimes the chapters are not updated immediately. That is why they issue "new policy alerts" like the PA-2014-005.

Based on the Policy Alert it seems that this is not a new policy. They have been making exceptions to the rule since 2002 but that ended as of June 2014.

We have to deal with this and unfortunately there's nothing else we can do. Please accept our reality and move on.

nobody said it was going to be easy or cheap!! It is very expensive and it tests your patience.

This page was updated October 2014. which is after the updated one in june 2014

Thanks for the link, it is very much appreciated. For the record I did read the messages and search, but am on my phone which is having issues. I've been waiting for my gc for 14 months now so yes, you are correct, I have learned plenty from people on here, and given plenty of advice. And am aware that people sometimes for whatever reason cannot find the info they need, therefore am more than happy to point them in the right direction without coming across condescending. :)

omg I think I messed up! I just read the instructions and it said to submit the I-693 with a copy of the I-485 that we filed last year. I only sent the sealed envelope, and the original RFE, and a copy of the ds-3025 from the overseas medical.

Did anyone else just send the RFE letter, and the I693 in a sealed envelope? Or did you send a copy of the I485 too?

We sent the I-693 and the RFE letter only.

Man, does it pay to call around!!! I just booked medical appts for my husband and stepson. The cost for each is $89!!! The TB test is an extra $35, but we can bring in test results less than a year old. :D So, we can do those at our dr ($25) and bring those into their medicals. I'm so so so relieved!!! The only drawback is that their appts aren't until July 8 and 9. :( But that's okay! As long as we have the sealed envelopes before July 16th, I am good with this plan. What a relief! Every other dr. was charging $250 for the exams and upwards of $90 for the TB! W T F?!

Wow! that is very cheap! make sure the doctor is eligible to provide medical for immigrants on uscis website though. I was positive for the TB test too that is why i paid 700. i forgot to mention that.

I was positive TB test as well. But turned out I never have had it. Just somehow I got exposed from someone. My x-ray was clear for two previous medical exams within 2 years. That's why I wondered who exposed this to me since my husband test was negative.

I only paid $60 for X-ray after TB test result came out and the nurse mentioned that the doctor did not charge us for the second consultation. Total cost was $395.

You are welcome!

I didn't mean to patronize you and quite honestly I don't think I did.

The answer to your question was only 5-6 messages above your question. I do not think is condescending to ask you to read at least a little bit.

Indeed!! I just wish that it wasn't 2 flippen weeks away. :clock: edited to add: I got their number from the USCIS website. Also, there was one office on USCIS that told me they don't do the medicals anymore, so clearly, they need to update that list.

I think you did. I got the same vibe from your post that they got. Also, your family-based AOS isn't a K1 based AOS, like most of us here. There are different rules for different situations.

I sent a letter to the Tampa office IO asking for clarification about what they need. I also sent copies of the guidelines sweetswinks found on the USCIS website. Obviously, we still expect to do the medicals in a couple weeks, but I don't think it hurts to try to get out of it. What we also expect is to be traveling on AP instead of green cards. Timing for this sure sucked. I'll let you know what, if anything, comes from my letter.

Yes, They need to update the list. It also happened for Key West area. The female doctor was already gone and the USCIS never updated it at all. I am more comfortable with a female doctor.

I just randomly checked our status on the USCIS website and yay!!

On June 24, 2015, the Post Office picked up mail containing your new card for Receipt Number MSCxxxxxxxxxx. We mailed your card to the address you gave us.
