Hi! Yeah, it is insane...I don't understand how they could make this mistake? We haven't contacted the ombudsman, but I have seen a few people mention this. It may be on the cards for our next step. Do you know how one does this?

New processing times have been released people! But it's safe to assume that either all of our cases have been lost or the dates are completely meaningless. If I'm still waiting at Christmas, I'm moving home and taking my wife with me.

You know, a friend of mine who came in on a B1/B2 told me before i filed the k1 to do the same thing she was gonna do, she came here, got married, she sent her AOS a week after I sent mine, she already has a green card and i'm here waiting.... and not only that, I cannot enlist into the Marines if I don't have that document, ugh, i have exactly one year to enlist. After all of this it's so hard to stay motivated.

Entering US using J1, h2b and B1 or B2 always qualifies for an immigration interview for there greencard... Also if your partner doesn't meet the poverty guideline that is an automatic interview at the field office.

But for those whose partners meets the poverty guidelines and entered thru k1 goodluck for the wait.

That's not true. My mother entered with a B1/B2 and we got the NPIW.

First of all welcome!

Yeah, the system is a little weird and unpredictable. You tried to do the right thing by applying for a K1 and your case is moving slower than your friend's who skipped the K1 completely.

Based on comments and timelines from people at this forum and with a conversation that I had with a tier 2 representative, it seems that the process for those who received the NPIW is about 1 year from the time you sent your applications.

I hope you applied for your EAD and AP so you can drive, work and travel in the interim time.

Do not worry about the Marines. It is not like they are going anywhere…

Just relax and enjoy the ride.

@danielmelara I think I didnt say all applicants qualifies for an interview... And also having NPIW doesn't mean you will not be interviewed as soon as immigration officer will check your case maybe he or she will schedule you for an interview.

A friend of mine in Atlanta was interviewed 7 months after she received the NPIW letter. She is also a B1 or B2 visa.

Come on! Our cases are not lost, they are just not being looked at, which I think is even worse LOL.

Please stay positive, you will get your green card soon. Just don't give up.

Quite honestly, the interview would have been MUCH better than the NPIW.

I truly envy those with interviews. I just wonder, what kind of interview, me and my mom would have. what questions should I expect..

would it be like... Are you his mother? how many bottles did he drink when he was a child? do you have any pictures next to him as his mother?

It does completely inflame my sense of injustice when people who come over who, practically illegally, by-pass the K1 and get Perm. Residency within at short few months. We are honestly strongly considering moving back. Taking all our education and skills back to the motherland.

Why would you go back?

I mean, it is not like you are wating in an ugly dungeon. It is not like you cannot work, because you have been given the opportunity to apply for a EAD, It is not like you cannot travel in case of an emergency with a AP.

I needed PR to start a post-doc fellowship that I had been offered and have since had to turn down. I am working yes, but not in the exact area I intended. Back home, spouse visa takes 24 hrs and there are more opportunities.

Well, that makes sense.

However, I honestly would recommend you waiting for the PR before you decide what you want to do with your life. I am sure you took the decision to come to the US for a reason strong enought that motivated you to leave the confort of your home country and take a journey (a visa journey.)

Look back in time and examine that reason one more time. If the reason is still there, then there's your answer.

So you don't have kids and they want their birth certificates? Wow.

I believe that it takes the same about of time, but mine originally took 35 days so it really depends on the luck of the draw. I would contact someone for advice since you have been waiting since April 2014, frankly I would speak to a lawyer. Shocking. You may as well contact ombudsman or senator - nothing to lose. In the mean time, it's easy to renew EAD - just remember that you have to submit 2 photos with the form. You will also have to have another set of biometrics taken... you know... just in case you changed your iris or fingerprints. Logical really.

P.S. which office was this requested from?

A lawyer is a complete waste of time and money. But your congressperson and/or the ombudsman would be a good place to get the ball rolling.

I contacted the ombudsman on March 16th, 2015. I just now got a response from them today. How many days is that?

I was thinking of changing my fingerprints, but I heard it was painful Very silly isn't it??!! Unfortunately I am a little worried it will take the full 90 days or close to it for my EAD, as my original EAD took 70 something, although I never did receive it due to it being lost in the mail...so had to reapply and they took another 70 or so days to send that one out! I spoke to tier 2 today and the guy told me that someone accessed my AOS today!! Lets hope that means something haha. I will still apply for a renewed EAD just in case. The RFE was from the Chatsworth Ca office...which is odd because I keep being told it is elsewhere (MO and Queens NY have been some examples).

That's the San Fernando valley office. They've been seen in here a lot lately.
