So I received my Welcome Letter in the mail today yay! But my name is still represented on it as my maiden name. Now seeing this it lead me to assume my green card will be in my maiden name as well. Sigh when I first noticed the error shortly after I filed in June 2014 I wrote the USCIS who in turn wrote me back acknowledging the correspondence and indicating it will be rectified. I even saw on December 5th 2014 a name change notice update on my Case Status. My concern is how will this affect me using my married name for ID, DP and international travel. My passport is still in my maiden name and I would like to renew it in my married name. Now I'm confused if I should do this. I have already had my name changed to married name on my SSN. I'm keeping fingers crossed the GC is in my married name. I was really hoping to have some uniformity with my documents Urgh!!! got to "love" USCIS!

Congrats everyone who got their GCs recently! That's great. So sad to see that people have to submit new medicals and tax returns. That's nuts!

I wouldn't say it wasn't nuts, just a kind of power trip.

I have great comfort knowing that what comes around goes around and that every dog has it's day!. I don't say this with malice, it's a learning curve this thing that we call life, for everyone!

USCIS, you are on the wrong path right now.... after all we ARE human beings with, feelings, emotions, stresses, you're just adding to those stresses and helplessness!

Post script,

Please also note you ARE dealing with REAL people here, not muppets, puppets nor mannequins or people with an IQ of 5! Please treat us accordingly!

We would also prefer that you don't treat us like a cattle market, number, file or dog .... we are worth so much more than that.

Thank you, in eager anticipation as always! Goodnight! :)

I didn't have a problem for my EAD/AP card I married and I put the EAD/AP card in my married name, although my passport and booking of my flight was in my maiden name. I took a copy of my marriage cert and they were fine with it, actually they didn't even look at the copy!

For your case I don't know you will have to wait to see the card before deciding what to do. I am assuming it will be in your married name, but you should be fine any which way. You need to book your flight in whatever name your passport is in and if your GC is in your married name and doesn't tally, simply take a photo copy of your marriage cert and a copy of your GC letter! Enjoy your holiday and your GC and please relax not good for the baby! :)

Thanks Shell I understand! I'm just so paranoid ( nightmare my husband and baby is let back into the US but I'm not lol) I travelled on my EAD/AP Combo Card before as well but they are both in maiden name. I wasn't asked for marriage certificate either. I guess the A # is throwing me off because i'm thinking that all my information should correspond to the bio info for this number. Thanks for the advice. I will enjoy and keep the baby calmer than I am lol.

noa1 on my wife's aos was may 22, 2014, now she got a stupid letter today, dated on april 24th 2015, saying because of some new rule on june 1, 2014, she has to redo her 1-693 because its over a year old and send that in within 30 days of the notice, but by Monday there is only 20 days left to get it in, this stuff is getting absurd.

Is this within 30 days? Usually they would ask you to send back within 87 days .I ask this because I might be getting the new medical request too ,but I have't see the letter ,30 days is too short ,it took 30 days for me to got the last medical record from civil doctor

I know you've posted that you regularly file SR's. Do they come from Lee's Summit or a FO? Have you called and ask Tier 2 what the @%#$@ is going on and why are you screwing me? Have you filed a inquiry with the ombusman and/or your Congressman?

Unless you are a pest they will never admit they've forgotten or lost your case. 16 months is beyond ridiculous...

I havent gone further than SRs and calls to be honest because I havent had alot of free time but after seeing everyones shock here I feel I ought to. What is the issue with not having a green card yet? am I missing out on something or will it make anything in the future more difficult?

Yeah, my wife's letter says within 30 days of the date on the notice, so she only has until may 24 to get a new I-693 sent to them. The letter itself came from new york and was postmarked april 28th, so don't know where it was sitting around for 4 days before that, postal service is slow these days too, so going to end up with only 20 days to try to schedule and get it done, don't know what happens if can't get it done. Really is becoming deja vu this year, had to send in the ead renewal last month, so may end up doing biometrics again this year, taking hours of driving for a 5 minute finger print they already should have. Also calling a bunch of doctors last may and only finding one that would do the vaccination supplementation and ended up that was a waste of time since didn't even matter with their later rules expiring medicals.

wow, only 30 days this make me concerned about myself .As I said it took me a whole month to receive the last medical from doctor after I did it .I don't know if I could submit the new medical in within 30 days . If you can't get a closest appointment with doctor ,you might want to try those walk in XXX medclinic.I used those before ,if you can find any in your area .All i need to do is call them ahead and go there ,have the medical done right away . Hope this information help any

Hello Everyone. Shell, I agree with you 100%

My wife got a letter from USCIS, sent from LA field office. Not sure if it is the welcome letter or not, but it says Congratulations blah blah blah. It says that if she has an immediate need to travel she can make an infopass appt. and get a stamp in her passport... And the second page is notice of conditional permanent resident alien. It says that she is "admitted" till 04/28/2017. And kind of explains what needs to be done to remove the condition...

If your post office is nearby, you might be able to pop down with the tracking number and see if it can be picked up.

I have my card in my hands. All this work for this card... I wonder if I should go and get a new SSN card so it won't have that "Valid with DHS authorization" thing on it...

I guess it would be useful I wanted to go get a job, but since I run a business only the banks have asked to see my EAD card... And since 2 weeks ago I opened a Discover bank account and didn't ask me for my SSN card.

Your GC should come in the name you filed the paperwork under. Was it not your married name?
