Have you also considered that if you push the interview date back you are about 3 years & 2 months away from qualigying for citizenship. If you're approved before your second anniversary you are 5 years away from qualifying!

How does that work?? Why is it 5 years from qualifying? I thought regardless, a spouse of a US citizen must be in the US for 3 years to be eligible for citizenship. Where does it say otherwise?

Edit: Here it says if you are at least 18 years old and: Are currently married to and living with a U.S. citizen; and Have been married to and living with that same U.S. citizen for the past 3 years; and Your spouse has been a U.S. citizen for the past 3 years. And been a Permanent resident for the past 3 years, then you are eligible for naturalization. http://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/files/article/chapter4.pdf

If you read further you will see Derwood realised they had made a mistake, probably as working such long hours. :(

In a nutshell you have to be a permanent residence "officially" for 3 years to apply for citizenship, plan and simple. Derwood works his tail off and just made a mistake. :)

I saw that!! :)

Opps ok , I see that you saw that.

I can't recommend sending the "outside normal processing time request". A month later, here's the canned reply I got:

The status of this service request is:

Due to workload factors not related to your case, USCIS anticipates a delay in completing your case. USCIS is committed to adjudicating immigration benefits in the order received and in a timely and efficient manner. We regret any inconvenience that results from delays in processing.

Edited by lrrrri

Yup, we have all gotten this answer at one time or another. They are not helpful most of the time.

Yep that is probably why I wont bother giving them that grace, its useless. :) Straight to the ombudsman for me and I will outline all the concerns and what they are doing to people lives! I will make it an enquiry and complaint all rolled into one and I can't wait to get my penny's worth next month!

Hiiiiii everybody, I'm starting to fill out form; I-765 to renewal. Now I have a question. In question No. 11 it asked about:

-have you ever before applied for employment authorization from USCIS?

I answered "YES"

the next questions asks:

which USCIS Office?

I don't know what to write because the first time my attorney applied. Would u pls. help me how I can know the answer?

The Ombudsman finally sent me an email in response to my calls and messages, simply stating that they're overburdened with people contacting them and I'll need to wait.

Sounds fishily like USCIS themselves.

Thanks :) It took 7 weeks and two days for them to renew it, but we still dont have AP guess we will have to send in another renewal for that. My husbands EAD was going to expire Jun 6th, I have been a ball of nerves! Funny thing though when we got his drivers license it is good for four years..I was very puzzled by that but I didnt look a gift horse in the mouth, that was the only plus that was happening right now hahaha. Yours will come shortly, in the next week I'm sure.

So the sun sets on another bewitching hour..Good evening everyone and thank you for the support!
