Well, we arrived back at JFK last night after a week visiting family in the UK. No problems except the fact that it is really aggravating to be sent to that detention room just because your Green Card is pending. The agents herding people in the terminal don't understand the pending status either. You would think that by now they would know since so many people are in that status. It was a zoo there and it took about 45 minutes to get out. We don't understand why people with EAD/AP cards can't just be processed at the first officer's desk...it's just a few computer clicks!

You don't have to have a green card to get health insurance.

My biggest problem with getting health insurance is that no-one can seem to verify my identity... tried multiple times through the obamacare website, and it's just said that there's no way to verify me and to 'try again later'. Thought it might be a problem with the SSN, but I've used it to open bank accounts, credit cards and even a brokerage account so can't be that.

No idea what's wrong with it.

AOS:

NOA: June 16th, 2014

NPIW: September 29th, 2014

Received Green Card: June 13th, 2015.

RoC:

California Service Center

Submitted: March 22nd, 2017

Completed: October 5th, 2018

N-400:

Submitted: December 11th, 2019

Biometrics: December 31st, 2019

Interview: April 22nd, 2020

Interview descheduled and now waiting for further updates...

I had a similar problem but I believe it's to do with your SSN rather than the fact that you don't have a green card. I was able to verify my identity by calling. You can buy insurance through a "navigator" (broker) who can verify your identity in person, too.

Have you filed taxes yet? Not having health insurance leads to a tax penalty. There was a 3 month stand-down on our health insurance when my husband started his new job last year, and we were "fined" for not having coverage during that time!

It's such a nightmare when you come from somewhere with socialized healthcare.

We waited 2 hours in secondary after a 15 hour flight at Chicago, O`hare. Also, we read a post stating that you only go thru "secondary" the first time, not on any subsequent trips, not true, went thru "secondary" 2nd trip also, wait was shorter tho, anyone traveling plan for this wait if you have a connecting flight.

You can bank on 30 - 60 days AFTER transfer to a FO before approval, even though your receipt date may be 2 - 3 months before the present Processing Time date posted on the internet...So much for processing cases in order received...

Our case was first received in a FO on 2/4/15 but not approved until 3/27/15 at another...IF you believe what Tier 2 says...and I'm doubting them more and more...

BTW your file has been in FL for a while. I expect SMS alerts are in your near future...That is my fervent hope for you and MoveOn and etc....

The thing that is disguting is that that check list includes everything that you presented to the consulate when you had your interview for K1...It simply means they have lost everything...Did you use a lawyer to file? It was this kind of situation that scared us enough to pay for a lawyer for both the visa and AOS. He has every one of those forms, especially copies of the police reports for my wife both in her home country and others that she resided in...I guess it might have been worth the money...

I would be on the phone to the UK consulate on Monday morning to inqiuire as how to get a police report...Did you keep copies of everything you submitted to the US Consulate for interview?

I know there are multiple posts out there but I want to be sure which one of them is most accurate. Each one of them has slight variations.
