ok so I've been trolling theknot.com for wedding favor ideas and stuff like that. D always groans when I get into these moods cos he thinks most of the stuff is tres` cheezy. But I think it's fun.

I want so much of the stuff on there, it's hard to put it in one direction. As far as favors go, by the time I get everything I want, it's gonna be a gift basket of stuff to each person. Would that be stupid?

and I deffo want this:

and I want this NOW:

http://weddingshop.theknot.com/weddingware...cId=&cTypF=

And I want the matches, and the water bottles (it'll be an outdoor ceremony) and the flower seed favors, and the coaster and the save the date magnets and the wine labels, personalized candles, the love measuring spoons, the lifesavers, the monogrammed choccies, key bottle openers, silk fans.........

omG I want too much on those pages

what do you want & how you gonna tie it all together?

hehehe...I am so excited for you :D

I think the gift basket idea is fine...I also ended up with quite a few favours and ended up giving them out in silky pouches...

Looking at all this stuff is getting me so damn excited, lol.

Dave wants to give out traditional old English pint pots with our monogram in the middle. He's such a man, lol.

God help me, I've just found another site that I like...or maybe I should say God help David, hahahah.

Welshie, what kind of stuff did you give out?

Ooh, theknot. Capital of the wedding-industrial complex, designed to make you think your day won't be perfect without imported doilies woven by nuns in Kathmandu and embroidered with seed pearls, so your budget breaks $20,000.

Fun, isn't it? Even if it is a paean to throwing expensive weddings. I've been on a hair-ornament kick lately:

I reckon you'd look gorgeous in a dress (or something similar) like that. Perhaps you could try some on in a shop that look similar, get a feel for it and then, if you like it, have one made to your liking?

aww ty mags

the only probbo is that I'm not too sure if I'm going to wear a gown at all...#######, my head is all over the place with this cos this is supposedly the 'informal' wedding...thing is, you know how it goes 'oh we'll have the bigger one later' and that might never happen. So i'm really not sure if it'll be out of place or not.

But I was tryin not to really go all frou-frou either.

but as it gets closer, I guess I'll have to make a choice then. Haven't even gone to look at gowns, cept the once like 2 days after we got engaged...D and I were walkin around and found ourselves in front of a David's Bridal...so we went in, but were completely overwhelmed. He saw a red & white dress that I actually spied as well...and he liked it a lot but I poo-pooed the idea cos he's not supposed to know.

Meanwhile, he prolly only liked it cos it's Sunderland colors, lol

I know the feeling. Our latest solution to my church's needing an #######-cranial inversion is to get married when he moves here in June and have the church wedding/reception in September, but I'm worried people won't come to the second one. I think our plan is, once he gets the visa, to schedule the wedding in September and just not bother to let it be known widely that we're already legally married.

LisaD, if you made sure you *scheduled* the party now, no matter when he enters, you'd definitely ensure you'd have a use for all the pretty favors and dresses.

only probbo is, the 'big' one is being held in England after AP

Hmmm. Any reason you can't do a biggish wedding as your wedding this time around, and have a big party in England, too?

I'd say: go for it.

Have all the favours and foufou you want- if you want it now, do it. :)

We'll go simple on the favours: we'll probably give out cds with a couple of our favourite songs.

I'm already looking forward to putting together little "welcome to Seattle"- bags for our guests from Europe, with maps of the city, info on public transport, info on how to get to the island (where the reception will be), a couple of local specialties (chocolate covered cherries maybe)... ah I wish I could start today!

short history:

2001 - met in Germany

April 2003 - fell in love

Aug 2004 - go to the US for internship

Feb 2005 - both return to Germany

Aug 2006 - getting married

DCF timeline:

09/01/2006 - filed the petition in Frankfurt

09/06/2006 - medical in Frankfurt

09/26/2006 - faxed checklist

10/05/2006 - received interview invite

11/01/2006 - INTERVIEW in Frankfurt - approved!

11/04/2006 - VISA IN HAND!!

12/21/2006 - POE San Francisco and ON TO SEA!

Well... I had a load of small Welsh Lovespoons (which had a sweet card attached explaining the tradition and on the other side our names and date of wedding) made from my dad's home villiage representing "me" and Wedding Day Yankee Candles representing "him" , heart chocolates and wedding day CD (which think was an idea from your good self  )

If I came to your wedding and you gave a bunch of favours I would be well chuffed!

If anyone is going to call you on going over the top, it's not going to be on the goodie bag they receive themselves! This is your last wedding ever, so if I were you I'd do exactly what I wanted.
